Default Disappointed in big new blu rays not to carry Bonus View (PiP)Whats up with that?

Tropic Thunder
TDK
Narnia Prince Caspian

Only BD-Live and no BV 1.1.
Has some studios dropped supporting PiP features and such. Because Those 3 i have mentioned are pretty big
Anyone else think its weird that some movie studios ONLY jump on the BD-Live features?

What's the advantage of Bluray's having PIP? I prefer to watch the movie as it is and then go through the extra features if any appeal to me. Multi-tasking isn't always a good thing.

I buy a Blu-ray to experience the movie on my system--not to watch some talking head in a little rectangle.

Nope I find PiP useless so this is not skimping to me. Skimping is when a studio does not include a lossless soundtrack.

PiP has always been the biggest f-ing joke.... It was a gimmick the other camp used to make it so much better... I feel you though, the studio's should not drop it , as there are a "few" people that like it.

I'd much rather have a PIP track than anything from BD-Live (at least the stuff typically offered at this point).

It seems I'm not the only one curious as to why there's been a lack of them recently... After watching a few of them, I kind of realized that they are more enjoyable to watch than just listening to a commentary track (though commentary tracks are still a very important feature for me).

I have yet to turn on any PIP or BD-live extras.

I need to just to see how they work.

I agree with you here. Except Transformers has some cool stuff.

As for the PiP stuff, the only one I've watched was the commentary on Forgetting Sarah Marshall which was pretty entertaining. I like being able to watch people record their audio commentaries instead of just listening to them. Aside from that though, I don't see a reason to complain that a film is lacking PiP.

You're 100% wrong. PiP has been in the Blu-ray spec from the beginning, when all the profiles were defined, so it has nothing to do with HD DVD. True PiP is a significant selling point over DVD and attitudes like yours are only bad for Blu-ray. The format war is long over and the value of PiP has nothing to do with that.

I've really enjoyed the PiP features that I've seen, but even if I didn't personally care about them, I'd still tout their value to the Blu-ray format, because I want to see Blu-ray succeed and all the advantages that it has over DVD are part of that.

I'd rather studios remove all kinds of special features to give the movie 35+ mbps and more subtitles.

Glad i am not the only one that sees PiP commentary and making of needs to be on a movie like TDK, Prince caspian and Tropic Thunder. But they are not

I'm with you, I'd much rather have a PIP feature than the stupid BD-live crap offered up thus far. Some of the PIP commentary on discs is really good and informative.

This is great news.
Now they can all focus on less fluff on discs that 1% care about and work more on faster load times & perhaps make them compatible with all players without Fw updates.

Wow, what a concept. No FW updates to watch a movie.
Maybe they can set a goal and require no FW updates starting 1/1/2009 and stick to a standard.

I am most disappointed that THE DARK KNIGHT's features aren't in PIP, particularily as BATMAN BEGINS does have their's in PIP.

Maybe the producers thought it would be better to show full screen the behind the scenes features as opposed to inside a small PIP box?

Ironically, they could have had both if they put the effort into it.

+1

If you're going to have special features, other than a commentary track, put it on a separate disc.
