Exclamation Sharp Error Message

I tried to watch Blu-rays on my Sharp Aquos BD-HP21U player today and got the following message: "Copy protected signals cannot be outputted to the connected equipment". I've never had this problem before and I've watched dozens of movies on this thing.

The strange thing is that the audio still plays in the background. I can here the movie, but the screen is black except for the error message.

I checked the Sharp Web site, and I already have the most recent firmware update.

Has anyone else had this problem? What's the solution?

Thanks

My first guess would be a loose connection. Not completely out so the sound gets through, but not a good enough connection that would allow proper detection of the TV supporting the copy protection requirements.

Just my thoughts. Hope that helps.

If any of you have this problem in the future, you must turn off your Blu-ray player and your TV. Then turn them back on and it should work just fine.

The day I had this problem, I think I restated my Blu-ray player 15 times and it didn't work. Then I turned off the TV and when I tried again, it all worked like normal.
