I got a message error with Windows update

Code 80070424

What are the solutions to this problem ?

I cannot update!

I'm with Windows Vista

1. Click Start. Choose Run.
2. In the Run box, type: regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll
3. Click OK.

Report back if that doesn't work.

It says :

The module wuaueng.dll was loaded but the call dllregisterserver failed with error code 0x80070005

Find the Command Prompt - I think it's under Programs -> Accessories. Right-click and select Run as Administrator. Then try to register the DLL again.

It says it suceeded but then i still cannot update in Windows Update!

I think Vista is the problem

Maybe replace Vista altogether?

I already have a problem with Windows Explorer shutting down!

Is it not downloading the updates, or is it stuck in a loop while doing the updates. I had my Vista comp. stick on "Step 3 of 3" when doing updates, and I had to restore to an earlier version of the back up in order to get it to work. May want to try that.

Try googling the error code and see if anything comes up, whenever I used to have errors in Windows that's what I did and usually an instruction on how to fix it was usually one of the first pages.

I agree, a restore is usually what I do when Vista decides to flip out. Should work.

Easiest fix is reformat your hd.

or upgrade to Windows 7

I found with Vista, that I would go into the control panel, download and install all updates, then reboot the system, it would be okay. If I did the shut down, and let Vista install the updates then, I had a larger chance of it "hanging" on the updates, and going through the whole process again.
