A few questions that may help us get you to a solution:

1. Are you trying to connect using a wired connection or wireless?
2. If it's wired, have you tried to plug your PS3 into the same wire your brother is using?
3. Can you do a connection test? (i.e. Is it a connection problem or just PSN problem?)
4. Was it a new router or modem?

Try searching for the network again. If that doesn't work it could an issue with where your ps3 is located, or the router's location, in which case you should move them around trying to get a signal. You could use a signal repeater if all else fails, or some insist aluminum foil on the router's antennae will work wonders.

Billbravo's right... we need more details to understand what the problem may be and see if we can help... I had a problem recently with my PS3 throwing a DNS error, it was fixed when I installed the most recent upgrade of the PS3 software...

When I researched the error there were bunches of differents solutions, it all depends on the number of error you are getting (if any)

Sometimes rebooting your router or waiting after a reboot can resolve the issue.
