I am looking to upgrade my center and my fronts, i just bought a new receiver sony 720, i dont know a price range(not too expensive tho ofcourse) because i havent bought seperate speakers before im ugrading for a HTIB, and now that i have a new receiver i want my home theatre to really start coming together, i live in toronto so if anybody who lives here would be a plus , if you know anywhere to buy good speakers for a goodprice (under retail would be nice) then please help, i dont have a credit card right now so cant talk advantage of web sales but might get one soon, dont really know what brand to go for but i heard polks klipsch are good, and is it ok too buy a center channel first and then fronts later and vise versa, i was gona get a center first cuz i really want the dialouge to come through, any help would be a appreciated, dunno if i left anything out so be free to ask questions,

Since you live in Canada you should look at Energy Speakers. I know futureshop carries them. The cheaper C-series are real good. Or you can go to the higher end RC or Veritas line. Over at avsforum.com there's a huge thread on those speakers. They're based out of canada so you can find them much easier there than here in the states. Try your local craigslist as well.

Im in Toronto and right now Bay Bloor has a sale on the image line PSB speakers which are also local. you can pick up a pair of bookshelf B25's and a center C40 for just under $600 before taxes. I just bought these myself after a month of researching and listening. 2001 audio also carries them and will price match.
I suggest you consider these speakers but I also suggest listening to them and others you might be interested in.

Definitely give a listen to the kind of speakers you are interested in. Also, if you absolutely cannot get the fronts and center at the same time (due to $ or whatever) I personally believe in starting with the fronts before the center, to get the largest improvement in sound right away. I am sure others will recommend starting with the center, but this is just my 2 cents. Do not buy cheap speakers though, you'll end up upgrading them before you know it, and end up wasting the money. Don't be cheap when it comes to your audio. I just upgraded to my Polks from some weak Sony's and I now hear all the difference people here have raved about. Good luck!

^ yep, just upgraded from sony's myself and the difference is HUGH. And I agree with one of the previous posters, since you are in Canada look at the Energy speakers, the C-300 are being discontinued at the momment and can be grabbed for very good prices, I just picked up some for $125 each, shipped and they are such a great speaker. wow. my center should be here today and that was $122 shipped. My whole new system, all Energy and an Acoustics Audio Sub is gonna be $550, that is a steal.

Most important thing you can do, establish a budget then start auditioning.

Good luck
