A couple questions for those of you who wait for the price to drop on blurays.

Mostly, I am asking those of you who have never spent more than 20 dollars on a bluray movie.

When you order your movies, do you include the price of shipping in your price? For instance, on amazon.com if you buy a movi that is $18.00 from a private seller they charge an extra $2.98 for shipping which would put the total at $20.98. I know, my math is astounding.

Have you noticed that it seems to take longer for the price to drop on comedies and animated movies? What's up with that?

I usually wait for the price to drop under 15 dollars for any blu's. I usually don't shop online for them but if amazon has a great deal like the B2G1 free sale then I will usually will look to see what they have. I will usually go to a local FYE and shop there and buy the used when they have the B2G1 free sale. That usually will bring it down in price to between 10 and 15 dollars.
And on the comedies and animated, they are in high demand and that is what people usually buy the most. So I would look into a local video store and see what they have for there used and get it that way.

Unfortunately, I live in Montana, and the local video stores, as far as I know, haven't started selling their blus yet.

Walmart will usually have a dozen or so blus for under 15. So i would look there for some of the older movies.

I take the shipping cost into account when I make my purchases on the Marketplace. Generally I wait until things slip below $15, although I have frequently snagged things for a lot less.

I know what you mean about comedies. Catalog comedies seem to take forever to drop compared to their new release counterparts.

I know, and that is way cool.....but I have all the movies at Wally World are under 15 bones that I want already. So, until they release different ones that resource is depleted for me I was talking kinda more about newer releases.

I've been waiting for them to drop below 17. That way with the shipping they are under 20 bones, which I have chosen as my personal threshold of pain. Pineapple Express is within about 15 cents today. I've been waiting for the price to drop since january...it's killing me.

Generally I just bite the bullet and buy it in stores, regardless of price. Sure if Amazon is offering the same blu for CAD$13 and its in stores for $33, I will buy online; but generally I will spend $25-30 without being upset.

Those of us who are pushing for Blu to really take over need more consumers like you! That's awesome.

I personally have only paid "retail" price for a Blu once, and that was for Pinocchio. Other close calls have been Cars ($20 + tax at Best Buy) and Madagascar 2 ($20 + tax at Best Buy). Those were both on semi-sale when I bought them.

Most of my Blus have been under $15. I got Iron Man for $18 shipped.

That's awesome dude! However, it doesn't really answer my questions.

Sorry, I guess it didn't technically answer the question.

So, I have spent more than $20 on a Blu before, but I try to keep all of my Blu purchases to under $20(ish). This really isn't any sort of mindset that I want to be in; it's more of a wife pacification than anything else. If I can buy a Blu for less than $20, then that is in the ballpark of a DVD, and therefore "OK" with her; i.e. not wasteful or whatever.

This is my opinion, but I don't see the reason to buy any blu new. Maybe people buy it for the cases, I don't know. The blus wont scratch and when your local video store will chop the price litterally in half, it's always a good bargain.

A lot of people have a phobia against used optical media, for a number of reasons. I semi-agree with that train of thought myself. I still haven't bought a used Blu, but I haven't ruled out the thought of buying used either; it just hasn't happened.

Yeah, my brother kind of turned me to the whole buy used thing. And when you have an FYE near home, it makes for a lot of purchases, especially when they run the B2G1 or B3G1. I usually run out of money when those deals come out. That's how I got the amazing deal of The Matrix box set for only 70 when it was retailing for 115.

Are you saying they have sales on Amazon Prime that you don't get by just using amazon.com as an average joe? Or is Amazon Prime just a break on shipping?

That sucks. There is a couple of online companies that are pretty good. Always concider Amazon when they run there deals. A good one for me and I have had no problem with is Frys.com. When they have there deals go on, not even amazon can come close.
