There's also an instance in Revenge of the Sith where he actually changes shot to shot in an over the shoulder conversation scene. The one where Anakin and Obi Wan speak for the last time before his turn to the dark side on the landing platform.

Yep, I've mentioned the dreaded fake beard before, several times in fact. Honestly, it's more distracting to me than ANY of the CG in the prequels.

I give the prequels as a whole "3 / 10" and ObiWan's wig "4.5 / 10" on a wigscale. I give Hayden's acting "Furrowed Brows / 10" and Jar Jar "10 / 10". Everything else gets one thumb down.

I will keep you guys up to date as the ratings change.

I never understood why Ewan's hair wasn't kept short, contractually, he would have pencilled in re-shoots in his diary, he should have kept it short and they could have just added the padawan tail with a hair extension.

George actually praised the wigmaker but putting short hair on long hair (especially when you can see his scalp normally) is always going to look like a birds nest. I only really notice The Phantom Menace's hairpiece, the fake beards pass me by!

In old Hollywood they used to make fake beard by shaving the actor's pubes and then applying it to his face with a gluestick. They don't do that anymore.

McGregor's beard was real in Episode II and III. I remember watching an interview with him about it.

I would have volunteered for grip, sound, or set design instead of makeup back then for sure.

Bad choice because the grip was in charge of holding the actor down during the process. Most of the time the actor did not want anything to do with it and he'd start bucking like a wild horse. They don't do that anymore though.

Real for principal photography, but like, Geoff D, mentioned when it came to reshoots they had to resort to a fake one. I think as soon as Ewan got out of principal he went home and scrubbed himself with a big brush in a chemical bath and shaved hair just to get rid of any excess midi-chlorians.

That line and the scene in the elevator I think he's doing a great characterization of Sir Alec Guiness and you get an impression that he's aged since TPM, but then later on he acts much younger and in ROTS he's cocky, similar to TPM. A good actor, but the reshoots sure mix up the continuity.

That's another good point, in the reshot stuff there's something different about his performance in general, even his voice. That's to be expected I guess, it can be hard for actors to get back into the swing of things after months/years away and it affects reshoots for pretty much any film, but in Ep II's case there's so much reshot stuff with Ewan that it gives the movie a patchwork feel that drives me up the wall.

Now I am going to watch my Errol Flynn DVDs to see if the job of "pubic hair applicator" is listed anywhere in the credits.

Oh man, I was watching some TCM HD the other day, and I swore, sometimes I could see the crabs moving about as the actor spoke! I just thought maybe he had been giving out free mustache rides.

It sounds insane but Jimmy Stewart actually got his start in Hollywood as a pubic hair applicator. Crazy but 100% true.
