It's not a rumor, it's confirmed. They even said who's encoding the disc. It's not coming out for a while yet though.

I just don't understand the logic behind waiting. When you have the exclusive rights, announce when you want, however when you've got significant competition you need to be getting out there and making it known that you as a label have plans for it. Scream Factory announces their Comic Con slate of titles with some of those taking up to a year to arrive, when you have something of this caliber being prepped overseas that fans are just waiting to jump on, it makes no sense to me to sit and wait on it until some arbitrary point in the future.

At this point, I don't see why anyone would even care. Second Sight is releasing a UHD (which should be region free anyways). And I don't see anyone beating the type of packaging that Second Sight has been doing lately, so that's who's getting my money.

The UHD discs are region but the BDs will be region B locked. So for people without a 4KTV & player the SS wont be an option.

Unless they have a region free player, which aren't really more expensive than a 4K player anyway!

I just am not very optimistic about a US version of this coming from a label likely to have better QC than Second Sight. Arrow and VS are it, really, and both seem incredibly unlikely. Thus, it seems like importing this version doesn't really have any opportunity for regret. Scream might dig up some additional features, but you'll be trading off encoding quality I'm sure.

This is all assuming a US label is going to get it and that insider info about a label working out a deal with Rubinstein over a long period of time that he then blew up last second is long out of date.
