I'd been inching closer to being able to start work on a true home theater this year until this latest worldwide development but prior to things getting crazy I spent some time looking at projectors and one thing I found was that it appears that many of the latest 4k projectors no longer offer 3D support which was incredibly disappointing. All this time i had been banking on the idea that when I finally got around to buying a projector that I'd be able to basically throw everything at it but unless I am mistaken, this no longer appears to be the case. I still have plenty of time to research before I buy, but it was disappointing to see none the less.

thinking this to. i think that 3D theater showings would still be a viable revenue stream that he likely won't want to give up. as mentioned the number of people that could take advantage of that is dwindling as well.

well to be fair a film that old isn't likely to get a major theatrical run at this point. it doesn't have universal appeal like say Gone With The Wind or The Wizard Of Oz.

You’d figure Rubinstein, being familiar with the business, would have considered that before dumping all of that money into it.

![]() I have a projector for my basement theater. Entry level Epson 3020. I have a 65" 4K Sony 900e in my living room. I choose the projector almost every time. For me, the projector's effective 3D, screen size, and more than adequate performance even at 1080p is enough to be the winner. Just more wow. The Dawn of the Dead 3D conversion is done. It would be a shame if it never made it to the only home video format to properly and very effectively utilize it. |

well he did it at the tail end of the 3D craze when every movie had to be in 3D a while back even if it was a convert. this happens more than you might think. how many movies came out at the end of say the 50s-early 60s sci-fi craze that didn't do well as the audience had moved on or the 80s slasher movies. he just got screwed by bad timing as 3 D didn't take off the way it was supposed to. his only really bad decision was holding out and not trying to make his money back over time.

I believe the 3D version was shown at random in theaters over the last few years. I just saw it in October in Pittsburgh (at a different theater from the one listed above). It certainly never had a wide rollout, and I can't imagine it made much money.

Films and movies are not two different things. They are one in the same. Only people who have been brainwashed by mainstream critics would say that.

Only recently have I got into 3D at home. I knew my projector had the capability, but I didn't have the glasses. Got a few pairs now and I'm kinda blown away. It's pretty awesome if you ask me. Now if only someone would put out Treasure of the Four Crowns in 3D... |
