The Argento cut is not affected with this RGB problem but the master used is not in the best of shapes and looks the same as the other European Bluray versions available of that version.
Can you explain, how does this affect viewing them on an HDTV? What happens to the black levels if the blu-rays are encoded in RGB PC?

No this is something Scream can almost pull off. The encoding will still be very 2007 lol

No matter who is releasing the Dawn films to BLU I seriously don't think it is happening this year from any distributor. It is already nearly July it seems like word of the release would have already gotten out.

Unless whoever is doing the release aren't going all out on every version of the film and are possibly releasing one cut. It seems like they would need more time for a quality remaster / restoration work.

If Scream does get the release then I'm sure I will buy it as long as it is as good as they can do, that being said I'm getting sick of the new illustrated artworks being done on many of their releases. Dawn requires something a lot better more along the lines of the Ultimate DVD set.

It's not that simple, we want an outstanding transfer of Dawn of the Dead, not a passable to bad one.

Personally I wish Synapse could get distribution rights for Dawn of the Dead, even if they needed to do a kickstarter program for it I would drop some bills for it for sure.

Please have the box set art have a hand drawn collage of the most recognizable zombies and set pieces from all three movies, and have individual cases with original poster art and new art on the reversible side like with their Day release.

See if they can get Martin too and release it as a collector's edition to coincide with the release of the box set, or just do a huge Romero collection with Night, Dawn, Day, Martin, Knightriders, Monkey Shines and The Dark Half and have it be a limited edition like Nightbreed. Maybe they could do a collab with Anchor Bay and get their Romero titles like with the Halloween set.

This is something only Scream Factory can pull off so I hope that they have the rights.
Arrow could pull it off, and what is the point of the JP master if shout are encoding it?
It would look worse

I like the movie a lot on a casual level (fan in the loosest sense of 'fanatic'), but am not really au fait with disc details; I do know there's been a boatload of different releases through the years, be it EU/US cuts of the film (and soundtracks), extras, video/audio quality, etc. Considering the continued chatter I'm presuming there's no one, near-definitive Blu collection out there? Life's too short and money's too tight (or, as I said in the Hammer thread, I'm too lazy) to go hunting around for multiple sets. See also: Evil Dead.

The 3D conversion has been on the go for a good three years, I'll be amazed if it ever sees the light of day to be honest.

Nice one fella. The video bitrate is exactly the same as the Arrow. The PCM audio tracks are also exactly the same while the DTS-HD 5.1 is a little bit higher, 1880 kb/s versus 1698 kb/s on the Arrow.

Heck, unless I'm mistaken, there were rumblings about a 3D conversion six or seven years ago.

I agree...it's feeling more and more like pie in the sky.

Like most of you (I expect) I couldn't give a fig for 3D, but I'd sell the eyes out of my head for a new, properly handled transfer.

A new 3D transfer could end up like Jurassic Park, it doesn't necessarily mean a great looking version of the movie in 2D. Also I have no idea why I would want Scream to do it as a trilogy, since I already own great versions of Night and Day. I just want a better Dawn. Though I think the Anchor Bay version looks "fine" for this kind of movie.

My hope would be just a new modern scan of Dawn, no 3D bull, released by Arrow or Scream on its own.

Despite the fact that Scream Factory has put out the best version of Day on home video? Arrow's looks like crap because of the smeary, waxy textures and extreme cold look.

Arrow's Dawn of the Dead looks bad as well so they're 0-2 when it comes to the Dead movies, and Scream succeeded with their only Dead release.

To be fair Arrow was in its infancy then and have greatly improved across the board since.

I don't see a point in anyone release Night or Day again though on BD. All I want is Dawn.

I'd love it if Arrow were to re-do Dawn & Day + do Night as well and release a super fancy trilogy set.

Arrow have come a long way since they released Dawn & Day on BD.

I'm sure that they would do a great job if were to re-do them.

I'd also love for them to do a transfer of Night that uses the same master as the Optimum BD release but isn't heavily cropped like that disc.

Apparently 1:33.1 is the film's OAR and a new master was struck for the Optimum disc but for some reason it was heavily cropped.

No idea why it was cropped but it is.

Here's some good examples of what I'm on about regarding the cropping:
