Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Currently $17.55 for the new Blu-ray vs. $36.49 for the 4K. A nearly $20 difference. Maybe the 4K disc is gold plated

The BD price is almost certainly a price mistake of some kind. Some sort of flub where their algorithm are matching the wrong product or something.

Reminds me of the Feb 2012 pre-orders. What were those? $16?

The Before Trilogy was priced at $39.99 the moment it went on Amazon. Great deal back in 2016. There were also several BN pricing errors on eBay several years ago where boxed sets like Zatoichi were going for ridiculous discounts.

Me, too. I was planning on picking it up in the next flash sale. Now I don't have to.

If the layoffs have anything at all to do with Wall-E, I'm not happy with Criterion licensing it.

The bigger issue is Criterion is focusing too much on streaming now and on selling beach towels (i.e. Criterion should focus on doing what it does best). (Though I suspect Wall-E was expensive to license.)

You're the guy that advised Kodak not to get distracted by digital cameras, aren't you?

The severance package comes with hoverchairs and doordash gift cards, so don't feel bad for them.

Yes, when faced with the choice between beach towels and keeping 20% of their employees, they picked beach towels. You figured it out.

I keep seeing posts stating that 40 or 50 dollars is too much for a release. It seems many don’t realize that they never go for the full list price? Non-sale Blu-rays are 31.96 and UHDs are 39.96

For those interested, here's a breakdown on what Criterion extras are kept or omitted on the UHDs of It Happened One Night and The Last Picture Show, included in Sony's Columbia Classics Vol. 3 UHD set.

It Happened One Night:
- Only omits the silent short film, Frank Capra's American Dream (included with Mr. Smith Goes to Washington on Blu and UHD), and 1982 AFI tribute
- Adds Frank Capra Jr. commentary (from 2000 DVD), advertising artwork gallery, radio adaptation, and You Can't Run Away From It (50s remake in HD)

The Last Picture Show:
- Only retains the 2009 Peter Bogdanovich commentary, A Look Back making-of documentary, location footage, and trailers
- Missing the 1991 laserdisc commentary, Picture This featurette, screen tests, 2009 Q&A, and Truffaut interview
- Adds new 14 min Bogdanovich tribute, vintage production featurette, 1971 theatrical cut (separate UHD disc)

Zero plans for 4K

Seemed like a good deal to bite on

Saw it the theater when it came out ....and besides Brazil and Fisher King needed company on the shelf.

Amazon also mistakenly priced Bottle Rocket for $12 2-3 years ago. I didn't hesitate on getting it and the price went back to its previous price after 20 minutes

I guess no Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterion sale starting tomorrow.
I think some word would have leaked out by now.
Let's hope that one starts Monday 10/31 or Fri. 11/4.
