I suspect the next four X-Men movies will be:
  • X-Men: Apocalypse
  • Deadpool
  • The Wolverine: Old Man Logan
  • X-Force
I don't really want Deadpool to be a part of the X-Men continuity. If it was ALL together (X-Men in the MCU), then sure, I would want it. But honestly, with the direction the X movies have gone (which I like) I see no reason for them to try and connect DP with anything. Let it be its own thing for the most part.

That is an awesome thought and image.

And they can, at least for his first movie/appearance. All it means for him to be in the officially continuity is that nothing explicitly contradicts previous events. It doesn't mean his movie has to lead to some huge event.

Deadpool doesn't have to be tied directly in with the "X-Men" films, but by default it is within that universe.

1) Deadpool is a mutant.

2) He was already established as part of Weapon X/Team X in X-Men Origins: Wolverine --- Although, I'm sure they will remedy the flawed direction that they went with in that movie.

3) He is a member of the X-Force team which is an X-Men-offshoot and has already been announced as an upcoming movie.

As long as it as simple as you two are saying, tangentially related in that there are no (or few) contradictions. I just get a bit worried due to things like XMO: Wolverine in which they tried to connect and set-up too many things including Deadpool and they ended up making them all terrible.

I'm not proclaiming doom or anything; it's just that last time they tried to have properties spread out and linked together it didn't go so well. I'm super excited for a Deadpool movie, I am just worried about tinkering from studios and execs.

Fox hasn't tinkered the last two X-Men movies. Not sure why you're worried they will now.

That's a good point. I am probably needlessly worrying. Maybe I have just been untrustworthy of this ever happening so I am creating barriers to my own hype. Thanks for pointing that out.

I assume production can't be terribly far off if it is a Feb 2016 release. Maybe within the next 5 months it'll start?

I think the X-Men movies are in good hands at Fox --- It's their handling of the Fantastic Four that you have to worry about.

They have been picking up with the last few quite a bit. While X3 had some problems, I overall liked it and thought it was the end of a good trilogy (all slightly flawed). XO: Wolverine is the low point of everything falling apart due to trying to spin-off and tie in and so on. First Class got better, but I still saw some serious flaws in a mostly good and sometimes great movie. The Wolverine was good. And Days of Future Past was just pure awesome.

So like I said, I think I am just worried when I hear about trying to tie Deadpool into the X-Men world because of the last time they tried that. But those were different days in which the future seemed bleak. But those days of future passed.

First Class may be my favorite of the entire series. The only two I have problems with are X3 and Origins.

Glad to see that. I was a little worried with all the time passing after the announcement of the film with no announcement of Reynolds. Cannot wait!
