I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest. I mean, all that needs to be said is Kinberg and Fox and you know you're dealing with buffoons.

I'm torn, the first hour of the film was great. Everything you could have wished for, really creative joke and crude but not senseless gags. I also though his girlfriend was really superbly written, like the same sort of lewd school boy crassness, but it was on the same level as the men, proving not all men can make rude jokes, they had genuine chemistry as well. But it just ran out of steam on that climax, like it was a really generic finale, the creative jokes disappear. I get that the villain can't be in on the joke, but nothing is fired at expense of him, the girlfriend is reduced to a damsel in distress and no jokes are fired at expense of that and it just winds up being a bland climax considering how much could have been some with a Deadpool movie.

But the big problem lies with the fact that the film has little going for it in that first hour, it's all rather conventional and lacking in action to deliver something pretty trivial. I'm gonna have to give it a 6/10 overall, but as far as Deadpool goes, they almost nailed it.

P.S: Start at the 1:00 mark. He is a little vulgar about the timeline.

Then the version of the X-Men contained in "Deadpool" is an alternate one, not the mainstream Post-DOFP 2016 X-Men at all.

It's still the main X-Men universe. He's basically saying that Deadpool is his own part of the universe, within the large place. The movie is clear that he exists within the standard X-Men timeline.

My Review

Quote:
"It almost sounds like the studio didn't have enough money to cram one more X-Man into the movie!"
- Piscina de La Muerte

Not even a few generic flashbacks can detract from what is essentially every nerd's wet dream of a movie. Tim Miller, Ryan Reynolds and a braver version of Fox Studios (which I totally appreciate) have prepared their finest chimichanga dish for all of us hungry Deadpool fans, with enough wit, immature charm and epic fourth-wall breaking to make up for their past mouth-shutting sins.

First things first, Ryan Reynolds was born to play the merc with mouth, and his Wade Wilson was as equally fantastic as his Deadpool. His back-and-forth banter with two of the X-Men was ****ing hilarious, so I'm dying to see more of them together. Tim Miller also knows how to direct action sequences and tell a kick-ass simple story (with a surprisingly effective emotional punch in there somewhere), which also assured me that he would be a natural fit for a sequel.

I can see how some people might be put off by the simple fact that Deadpool doesn't overstay his welcome, and that the plot is rather simple and doesn't have many layers to it. But honestly, as a fan, it didn't bother me because it had enough Deadpool-ness in it to make it a great time at the movies.

Today is a day of victory, because we're finally at that moment in time where every single one of us can walk out of our house and use our preferred method of transportation to get to the nearest theater so we can watch an appropriately R-Rated Deadpool movie (well... unless you're too young, so in that case, grow up and then come back and watch it). It's a day that took too damn long to arrive, but one that was well worth the wait.
Seeing it again tomorrow

I'm terrified by your review. I hate anti-climatic movies.

So like every single Marvel film ever made then?

Let me guess...a vertigo inducing fight above a city?

Not the budget to pull off an entire city, but pretty much as close as you can get.

Watched it and loved it. Definitely going to each again.

The movie I think gave a perfect introduction to Deadpool and establishing the character considering they had to work to a very tight budget. Hopefully they take as much care on a sequel and don't try a cash in. Rey olds should be getting one of them % of the takings deals for this character.

Does it not come across that they're mocking that skyscraper rooftop/helicarrier style battle we see in other cbm's, or does it just seem like a legitimate lack of creativity?

Too strict! The movie is original because
[Show spoiler] the present day scenes are composed of two climactic scenes. The first is a mistake (bad guy gets away). The second is success (the bad guy gets killed). The rest of the film are flashbacks.

No jokes are thrown at it's expense, it's really strange actually, since they're pretty much being lined up for jokes.
