Reynolds doesn't need to be redeemed for that movie. He wasn't the problem with it. In fact, he's the best part about the film, because his Hal Jordan is actually quite good. It just comes down to that deserves a better movie.

But that's not the argument...? Yeah, WB can definitely recast him. But that doesn't have anything to do with whether Reynolds needs to redeem himself. Again, that movie wasn't his fault, he was good in it. The film was just a mess from a script level and had far too much studio interference. That was the film's ultimate undoing, not Reynolds. So, I don't think he needs to redeem himself, I think he deserves to be handed a better comic book film to show his talent in. We know he has talent, he's just had a piss poor agent picking spotty at best projects.

And despite doing good, Brandon Routh got the boot, but it wasn't his fault.

Which implies that you think Reynolds was the problem with Green Lantern, and All I've done is say that he wasn't the problem, so he has no reason to redeem himself. I've said that he deserves a great film that anchors his talent, which I think we can both agree on.

So whether he's good or not, yes, WB can and will recast him. But that's not the argument being made. My point came down to saying that even though that the film was bad, Reynolds wasn't, and he has nothing to redeem himself for. He just needs a better film, and hopefully one that actually works. Because anytime he's been in a bad comic film, which sadly is often, it hasn't had anything to do with him, but the material and the lackluster direction that it goes. Be it Green Lantern, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Blade Trinity, or R.I.P.D., he was never the problem with the films, and so what you should be saying is it gives Reynolds a chance to finally get a good film worth his talent. It's time for Fox, and Hollywood, to redeem themselves with Reynolds, not Reynolds redeeming himself to film audiences.
