That was pretty much my reaction.
I ran to my friend (who loves Deadpool) to show her the news because she is the only person I personally know who might love him more than me.

I'm really really excited for this. It is possible I look forward to this, dare I say, more than Avengers 2.

Reynolds was funny as Deadpool in the first 'Wolverine' movie.

He also wasn't the problem with that terrible 'Green Lantern ' movie. That movie still would've sucked no matter who was playing Hal Jordan.

Reynolds doesn't need to be redeemed for that movie. He wasn't the problem with it. In fact, he's the best part about the film, because his Hal Jordan is actually quite good. It just comes down to that deserves a better movie.

Reyonlds was indeed the best thing about GL, but he wasn't Hal Jordan. I think he's perfect for Deadpool though. Come on R rating.

20th Century Fox recently announced that it's moving forward with a "Deadpool" movie and has scheduled it to hit theaters on February 12th, 2016. Today, Rob Liefeld, the creator of Deadpool, commented on the news, which he has been waiting for since "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

He wrote: "I am absolutely beyond thrilled that Deadpool has been officially announced! I'm thrilled for Tim Miller, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Ryan Reynolds as well as all the guys at Blur Studio! This is a tremendous achievement for them! Rhett and Paul wrote a brilliant, and I don't throw that word around loosely, a brilliant script! Audiences are going to go on the ride of their collective lives with this film as they envisioned it!

Tim Miller is a genius, he is brilliant as everyone who witnessed the leaked footage witnessed! There is so much more to come! Deadpool supposedly to be PG-13

We've all been wondering about why Fox chose now to annunce a release date for Deadpool, and while the overwhelmingly positive response to the leaked test footage undoubtedly played a role in that decision, it appears as if there was a lot going on behind the scenes as well. In the latest edition of the "Meet the Movie Press" podcast, the host revealed the following (at around the 22:00 mark) about some changes which have been made to the project. "I heard from the director that they finally figured out the script, and it was right before this was announced, that they figured out, and you guys are all gonna hate this, they figured out how to make it PG-13. And therefore "not lose its soul", and that's a quote, of the script so that they can make it."

This may be an unpopular opinion but I think R-Rated franchises can be PG-13 if done correctly. The problem is that not all films are done correctly. I think fans will be more forgiving if Deadpool at least has what makes Deadpool...well, Deadpool. His comic sense of humor, his breaking of the fourth wall and all that jazz. And for what it's worth, it better be a hard PG-13.

There are a lot of ways to get around PG-13. Honestly, it can be done. I think Deadpool belongs in an R rated film, but I also want the movie to be financially successful so we get a bunch of sequels.

The only thing that would almost have to be R-rated about a Deadpool movie would be the violence, but considering how violent PG-13 movies are these days, I think it'll be fine.

And was 90 seconds. Stretch that out to a 120 min movie. It can work but at least give us an unrated blu ray.

This PG-13 business bugs the hell out of me. Not because I think Deadpool can't be done that way, I mean blood is absolutely essential IMO but loads of PG-13 Horror movies show enough blood etc. Reynolds would do it cheap since he's such a fan. Supporting cast should be good actors not 'name' actors. Deadpool does not require an astronomical budget at all. Could easily go balls-out bat shit crazy Deadpool with $40m and have it Rated R and still make a ****ing ton of money! I'd understand making it PG-13 if they spent $100m+ on it but there's no need.

Either way, if it closely resembles the leaked script from a few years ago it'll be fine BUT if they totally neuter it... Well, then they deserve it to flop!
