It Looks Like Deadpool Will Be PG-13 (No Joke)

In an update that's sure to disappoint fans, we have word that Fox's Deadpool movie has succumbed to that dreaded PG-13 rating. Though star Ryan Reynolds was fighting for the R, his latest Tweets on the matter would seem to confirm this news.

We know Ryan Reynolds was campaigning hard for an R-rating when his solo Merc With A Mouth movie finally slices its way into theaters, but it seems he's lost the battle; and any slicing will commence in a nice, safe, PG-13 environment. JoBlo reckon they've confirmed this with a source at Fox, but even if you were sceptical given today's date, the following Tweet from Reynolds at the very least suggests that his pleas for an R-rating have fallen on deaf ears.

Of course Tim Miller is only shooting the movie now so there's still time for this to change, but it sounds as if the studio is pretty dead set on bringing this in at a PG-13. Deadpool also stars Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, and Ed Skrein and will hit theaters on February 12, 2016.

Shame, daresay irony will strike and Fox will only end up adding lousy CGI blood to a later version of the film just for an Unrated or Uncut edition.

It's really not, it's far from the punisher darkness and like others said arrested development swearing censorship will make it better in my view.
Yes there is gone for comedic effect, but can still pull most of that off in a pg-13

I don't care if it's PG-13, or R, as long as limbs, or even his head, can be severed and put back on like they are in the comics. Deadpool putting himself back together is just as important to me as fourth wall breakage.

Excitement = GONE. Though it is April 1st. Bad day for this news to hit if it is true because people will be praying it is a joke. Will hurt so much more when it's confirmed they're serious. Or maybe they are trolling and confirm it is to be R tomorrow or at midnight tonight.

While it was a lesser Dirty Harry movie I don't see the need for a remake and Ryan Reynolds is no Clint Eastwood.

How is this news now? they been said it was going to be PG-13, back when the test footage was "leaked" I was pissed then, and I'm still pissed about the rating.. If any comic movie deserves a rated R rating is this one. Even the first Kick-Ass was rated R.

Ryan Reynolds Confirms Deadpool to be Rated R!

Earlier this week, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds expressed hopes that the film would be rated R. JoBlo followed that up earlier today with a report that Deadpool would be rated PG-13, to which Reynolds responded on Twitter.

In the spirit of the Merc with a Mouth, however, it was all a gag, as Joblo and Reynolds have debuted a new video from the set of the film confirming that Deadpool will in fact be rated R! Check it out below.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Ryan Reynolds will star in the title role of the film along with Ed Skrein, TJ Miller as Weasel, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Morena Baccarin as Copycat. The film will also feature the mutant Colossus, though Daniel Cudmore has confirmed he will not appear as the character.

Tim Miller is set to direct the movie from a script by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Deadpool is currently scheduled for a release on February 12, 2016.
