No it wouldn't. That would be the cut of the film that almost never sells & ends up in the bargain bin real fast.

Yeah, I know. I just meant for the parents that dont want their children having the theatrical cut. Have the option out there for them.

Sorry kid, just like numerous kids before you over the decades, you'll have to wait until you're at an age when your crybaby mom will let you finally see it.

This is a character that shouldn't have a PG-13 cut. So tired of this entitled bs, boo hoo.

You have a mass amount of other comic book films AND TV shows out there. One that you'll miss won't be the end of the world.

If Deadpool was edited down to PG-13 is the film 20 minutes long at this point?

I hope they put a G rated cut on the Blu-ray. It'll be like 3 minutes long and people can then enjoy their family friendly version.

What that parent could do is take her kid to see the movie and tell the kid not to do or say anything that happens in the movie before hand. You know, actually teach the kid something.

A parent teaching their child something?

But it's easier for everyone else to babysit and teach their kid! The other option requires work and who has time for that!?

I don't care what someone does with their kid, but one issue I see with that is that he's going to look up to this character because he's supposedly a superhero, even if his mom says not to say what he says, or do what he does.

I saw parents with their kids when I went to see Watchmen and parents with their kids when I went to see Kick-Ass. They're going to take them regardless, either out of lack of awareness, or lack of caring. This petition will be forgotten in a day or two.

This film isn't meant for them. They'll live. It's an R rated adult film, based on a mature, meant for adults comic. The game is also rated Mature. This is not a children's superhero.

To be fair, if they had enough time, and managed to make a "PG-ified" version side by side with the R rated one, I reckon the possibilities and result could have been hilarious. Ludicrous double entendres and kidified weaponry and confetti gore, it would have been right up Deadpool's avenue.

That petition thing sounds so stupid it makes me think of some kind of hoax to talk about the movie.

this would be hilarious!!!

my son is 7, he'll be 8 in May.....he sees me watching the trailers and tv spots online and keeps asking me if we're going to go see it.

keep telling him he can't b/c it has bad stuff in it.

more than likely though, once the bluray is released, when mom isn't home one day, we'll throw it in and watch it together.

but yes, the whole "you can't say this stuff at school" conversation will be had beforehand.

i posted the 1st trailer on facebook when it was released, a dad of a boy in my son's class asked me if i was taking Grant (my son) to see it. told him the wife would kill me if i tried that.

so i'm not the only dad thinking about it.

One, there is a rule forbidding two different versions (content wise) of the same movie to be released simultaneously, so if there is a PG-13 version, it would have to be after the R release, where most of the profits and big interest went to. Two, the PG-13 edited version of The King's Speech and Passion of the Christ (it tried to be a version safer for young/easily grossed out viewers) failed hard, showing that no one was greatly interested in a censored version of an already released film. Third, this will cost Fox more money then it's worth, the trailer had scenes in a strip club, and there probably are some important story elements that happen there, which means they would have to refilm those scenes to meet PG-13 guidelines, paying to reuse the location and to get the actors back to refilm and record the cleaner dialogue/scenes, and they also have to get the editors to remove the bloody violence and put in the new dialogue/scenes, who also have to be payed. There's no chance that a PG-13 version of Deadpool will happen, it sucks these young fans can't see it, but I wasn't allowed to see Batman Returns when I was young because my mom thought it was too intense for me, it sucked, but I waited and when my mom felt I was ready, I saw it, and it became my favorite Batman film, it just how things go with media, you have to be the parent and tell your kids no for things, you can't expect the companies to do this stuff for you, it may break your heart telling him no, but it's what you have to do until they're mature enough for this content. Saying no will teach kids the art of waiting, which is a lesson that can help in life, and also, the kid is not special, as I type this, a kid was denied to watch something because it was too adult for them, happened to me, probably happened to you, did our parents try to guilt trip the studio to make a cleaner version, no, instead we had to wait until we were mature enough or for a TV edit. Grace's push for this also kind of disgusts me because it's exploitative, because she is using this kid to push what she wants to film to be, she has shown to not to be a fan of it being R in other videos of her's, so she has taken this typical situation that every parent faces with no issue and blown it so out of proportion to push what she thinks the film should be, Grace has now joined my YouTube blacklist because this is kind of disgusting.

Seriously, I believe that the marketing team deserve an Oscar for their work on this one. The advertising has been more entertaining than the entirety of some of the films nominated for best picture this year!

If anything, I've gotten more joy and rewatches out of the trailers and marketing for this than I did from X-Men Origins: Wolverine. If the movie ends up being good, it'll be a Christmas in February, but in the event that Fox shits on Deadpool fans yet again, at least we'll always have the marketing that gave us what we wanted.

w/the way Reynolds and those involved w/the movie have been talking, i'm expecting a full on love-letter to the fans.

almost so much to the point where they kind of alienate the people that have no idea who the character is or what he's about by going full-on "Deadpool" in the movie........

4th wall breaking
pop-culture referencing
toilet humor

..........we all know and love about him.

you just know this character and what he's really about is going to rub some people the wrong way. you can read this very thread and see that already.

Forbes was thinking of something similar: http://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2016/01/15/why-fox-should-make-a-pg-13-version-of-deadpool/#5b0e3fe5b6b52289e253b6b5
(If this doesn't work, then search for it, it's a pretty recent article.)

And I read a YouTube comment that they could bleep the language with cat meows and cover violence and sex with pictures of kittens.
