I want untouched, it's it was good enough for the negative then it's good enough for me.
Their problem is they have no idea where to draw the line.

I'm sure many will disagree, but for me keeping the original intent is what I care about. Lucas changed the intented experience over and over, which I hate. However cleaning up matte lines and glitches is more trying to present the originally intended experience as well as possible.

It is a fine line for sure, but that's where I stand in general. Erasing snake reflections - good. Changing guns to walkie-talkies - bad.

All I want is Star Wars. Whether Unaltered, SE, SSE, SSSE, whatever. I just want Episode IV, V, and VI. And thankfully that's what I got. End of Story please.

There are blurays now that fit that bill.

Wonder if the news of the 3D versions of the remaining PT movies finally hitting means the Other has had new scans

My choice would be to just scrap Lucas' special editions and create a new one, but just cleaning up existing effect issues, like mattes, vaseline under the speeder, lightsaber issues...ect, no thanks to new scenes, different color schemes and "additional" CG elements that weren't already intended. (I'm fine with keeping the Biggs/Luke deleted scene at the end of ANH)

It might sound subjective when you say I just want the originals with no "additional" CG elements that weren't already intended, then add CG to clean up existing effects... but I think it's intention is obviously different.

To avoid further backlash from purists, the smart thing would be including the unaltered originals with soundtrack and defects on the discs as well.

Fixing errors is different than altering the tone, feel or look of movie.

The negative is not the film. It's like saying a RAW untouched image is the final intended image and that IP corrections do not count. It's not. The IP usually, is a reference representation of the film. Never the negative.

They should release each movie Individually but include all versions of each movie that came out previously. For each film, add 2 distinct Blu-Ray Bonus Disks FILLED with Special Features to each movie. I want them to use all 50Gb on the Bonus Disks! Port over ALL Legacy Special Features! No Movie in this "set" gets The same Bonus Disk. They are all different from each other, like Harry Potter's "Creating the World of..." Disks
Pretty much, turn each film into a Blade Runner-Like Set!
Each set should be at least 6 Disks!

- Theatrical
- 2001 DVD Edition
- 2011 BD Edition
- 2015 BD Edition

Just give me the really unaltered (but really really unaltered) theatrical versions of the first 3 films, wrapped up in a newspaper, and I don't want anything else.
I won't complain about anything!

Because it was once released that way. I think I remember hearing something about it.
I have a copy of it, but not sure if it was ever officially released.

That's quite a request...

If I could request something from Disney/Lucasfilm, it would be the unaltered original trilogy, along with 3D conversions of each film and some new and/or previously unreleased legacy features. Not really sure what we'll get, but hopefully it's at least those things.

I'd like the original theatrical editions of each movie, with the deleted scenes restored to the same standard when possible, along with a new making of documentary for each movie. I'd love to see new special editions of each movie too, with new special effects but ILM might be booked up for the next decade!

All of these wishlists are great, but realistically I think all we are going to get are the original movies (unaltered) along with two audio tracks for each one. I don't think they are going to bother with any of the special edition versions/alterations. I think new extras for sure and maybe a documentary on the restoration process which would be cool.

I'd be okay with just those things, but it would also be nice to see the 3D versions of each film, since the conversions are largely completed already.

Oh, if that is the case, then those would be a strong possibility too I would think.

It will be funny when in a year from now we will be discussing being mad why on earth they didn't release anything at all...

So, who here thinks that Disney will wait until September to release something, if they actually release anything at all....

To tell you the truth, although i wish it will all my heart I believe it's:

1% chance of unaltered OT being released.
99% chances of a repackage of the old Blurays!
