I'm mildly surprised it's still labelled "The Complete Saga" when they're about to release a new episode of the, emm, Saga and invalidate the claim to being "Complete". (Plus, it's only a saga in publicists' terms anyway.)

Perhaps they should have labelled it "The Lucas Episodes".

When paperbacks are issued with five different covers, each in a different color, do you purchase all five?

There are two reasons for these re-issues when the discs are exactly the same: one is that frequently the re-issue packaging is less expensive to produce and they don't want to do a reprint on the original more-expensive packaging. The other is that when something is re-issued, it gets publicity, it frequently gets special placement in what's left of physical retail, it gets placed on the home page of e-commerce sites and it gets reviewed. All of that leads to mindshare and sales.

No one is expected to buy it again. They'll love you if you're anal enough to do so, but they don't expect you to. Completists and those with severe anal-retentive disorders aside, of course.
You are right that re-issues happen so that more people will buy the product. Books have done it for more than the last century. Newcomers discover great books and they read them. It's a great thing, yes?

I'm assuming the best of you and that 'for those of you who still read' is because you feel guilty that you're one of the average Americans that reads less than 10 books a year and you wish you read more. And not because you're feeling superior or anything.

But I've read 2792 pages of Internet dribble, doesn't that count for anything?

Anyone got any back/inside pics yet ? Especially the book. Have they changed anything there ? I guess I'm after an unboxing. Even a few pics would help here for now.

I posted the exact same thing in the herpes thread and it was not nearly as well-received.

Since it's Fox releasing it, I guess it is the complete Fox saga? It is crappy they're using that term though.

Saw this at Best Buy today for $89.99. All the movies are in 1 fat HD keep case (about the size of 2 HD slims). The back just lists the movies and "commentaries for each film", a quick overview of the features. It doesn't list what's on each disc specifically. 9 discs total. Simple repackage as others have said, it appears.

Just started working my way through the special features. For the first Disc of special features I see in the reveiw for this that there is a play all feauture. Does anyone know where it is? There is way too monotonous and tedious stuff to do just to watch a 2 min vid.....

Does anyone know if the disc art for the US set has changed? Also heard that the numerals have been taken off.

It's not like they actually had disc art to begin with.

No idea why the numerals would be removed though.

Because all the Star Wars films are being re-promoted without the episode numbers. The steelbooks and digital versions are both without numerals.

I saw the 30th Anniversary screening two years ago, (hadn't watched Jedi for a few years) and holy hell, that scene almost stops the movie cold. It's so out of place, both visually and as a Star Wars scene.

That seems odd. Why would they do that? Are they reframing them as separate movies but with a continuing theme? The new one's still "Episode VII", isn't it?
