Since there are sequences I like in all three films of the PT, the difference between TPM and AOTC/ROTS for me comes down to Jar Jar vs Hayden - who do I loathe more? As much as Hayden can't be blamed for the writing and probably the direction he was given, I have to grudgingly admit that Jar Jar is more bearable than he is. So I won't argue with you I know exactly what you mean about that excitement of seeing a new Star Wars movie on the big screen. Being 18 at the time, I felt the same way.

They'll both burnout eventually if they keep up this release schedule. The only question is when. I would hope they take a break with each before it happens, but movie studios don't seem to like to do that.

Marvel was supposed to have 3 phases and that's it, now Disney is talking about doing a 4th. They obviously don't care about "movie burnout"

That, and throw in the 3D version, too

With Star Wars, we're looking at one movie a year (well, actually five movies within a four yr period) between the spin-offs and main Episodes. That seems reasonable to me so long as the writing is decent. I think waiting three years between Episodes with the previous trilogies was torture for many Star Wars fans.

Burn out? Nah, it will never happen. The population is always growing at an exponential rate, there is a new SW/Marvel/Disney fan born every minute...literally!
Couple that with today's I want it instantly, or better yet: yesterday/social media driven society....I'm amazed VII/VIII/IX weren't all released in a 12 month span.

They went through the trouble of doing a new scan and then screwed it up. I imagine that should be a pretty easy fix if they're so inclined.
Even though I regard Phantom Menace as a bad movie, I have a weird nostalgic attachment to it at this point and still watch it from time to time. I would buy the movie again if it had both a better, non-DNR'd transfer, and included the original 1999 theatrical cut of the movie.

Although the differences are minor and the cgi Yoda was an improvement, I'd rather have a shorter, leaner pod-race scene.

well, I'm betting that's how they felt with the universal monsters, which is kind of a precedent for this shared universe stuff, even if they weren't actually calling that.

I'm also betting on Kylo Ren Meets The Vision around 2020.

I feel like I'm the only person in the world who prefers the extended Podrace.

I dislike the prequels but The Phantom Menace is the best of the three and the extended pod race is one of the highlights.

Nah. I'd take a whole pod-racing prequel movie!

Yep, studios can't help themselves. They always ride things until the profit stops. I just want them to take a short break. A 2-3 year gap after "phase 3" would give people a break and build up anticipation again. Same for after the new SW trilogy is over, take a break for a while.

Doubt it happens though.

Marvel Studios might take a small break....but that doesn't mean Sony or Fox will. There will be a Marvel-related movie every year (even if the MCU proper takes a break).

I've read that Disney wants to do a Star Wars-related movie once a year. With VII breaking all types of records, who can blame them?

I ordered the complete saga online from Best Buy for store pickup and when I picked it up it was the 2011 release in the digibook packaging as opposed to the 2015 release. Is there any difference beyond the packaging, like in content? I don't see anything that sticks out to me, though I could easily have missed something

Of course a hiatus from all these damn superhero movies won't happen. As has been stated before, they do not make movies for the U.S. market anymore.

No difference in content (dunno if the repackaging has the small content guide included in the digibook). Only the packaging and cover is different.

It's just a repackage for people that didn't like the cardboard one. If you owned the previous release, there is no need to get the new one.
