Yeah. Most TESB changes I don't mind. But that one drives me nuts. It ruins the flow of the movie.

I don't think the ROTS novel really went there definitively. Sure, it can be read that way, but it falls short of confirmation. It was other sources that went there: McDiarmid's article in Star Wars Insider, and I think a comic or two. I heard there was something in the new canon, but I'd have to look up the specifics. ( Also, the Sidious visage looked a little gnarly already in Tartakovsky's Clone Wars, for whatever that's worth. )

Also... who the eff cares if we see Vader land on his ship? I mean, I can understand Lucas wanting to change things because the technology wasn’t good enough when the movies were first made, or to change something to line them up more with the prequels. But this just made no sense at all lol. |

I’m still wondering why the the tractor beam screen showing English text is a problem.

It's not a problem, but there came a point where it was decided that there shouldn't be any readable Earth languages in the movies and it should all be alien. So it's consistency that's the issue, not the language itself.

That’s what I was asking about before. When was the text switched from English to an alien language in the series? I don’t really see the problem with having English text. I mean, they’re speaking English in the movies.

They've always tried to put the alien text in, but some English slipped through, either by design or mistake (the interrogation period's syringe has 'Made in England' on it). So when the special editions were conceived they had the opportunity to change it, but Lucasfilm as always wasn't very consistent. |

I was thinking of re-visiting the old laserdiscs for the original Trilogy for the Fourth.
I own the Definitive Laserdisc BOX set + the widescreen LDs that I think were released around 1995 which were the last LD releases of the films before Lucas applied changes for the Special Edition versions. (I have that set also. but between the Definitive and the '95 era LDs anyone out there prefer image quality and audio on one release or the other? thinking I will watch them tonite, in Dolby Surround Stereo |

Although if you are super hardcore, you will track down the 1986 Japanese Special Collection releases. https://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/11017...ial-Collection The first time they were ever presented in widescreen on home video. While absent of any filtering/ video processing, they look bad to me. Much too washed out. But honestly, the best looking home video release is the 97 Special Edition LaserDiscs. Granted, its the Special Editions, but they look absolutely gorgeous, and sound incredible. |

I own the 2006 LE DVDs, but at this point I've only held onto them as the last officially licensed release of the original films, not because I have any interest in watching 1993 laserdisc transfers on a 55" 4K TV.
For me, Despecialized is where its at for the time being. For the first film, the Silver Screen Edition is amazing too. |
