![]() Seriously, though, the Muppet needs to go. Middle ground would be CGI enhancement without completely replacing it. Walking, climbing, etc but also the face is very... muppet-ish unlike the Ep3 CGI model. |

![]() His reviews arn't worth the time spent to watch them. It's just the usual fanboy whining and crying. He makes Anakin and Luke's whiny nature look mature by comparison. Heh. |

First off the scene in EP 2 when Anakin gets his hand cut off did not seem right he showed no emotion it was like it did not even affect him.

First off, not sure what version your watching, but on my AOTC DVD, it clearly shows (more like its heard) that it did "affect" him. He just didn't whine like a ***** about it like Luke. Go watch the scene again.

That seen in Episode II is also a prime example of how Lucas trying to parallel the OT in the PT was rather weak in many ways.
Yes, that scene mirrors the OT in the most superficial, visual manor. But it COMPLETELY lacks the emotion of the equivalent scene in ESB. Yes, Anakin looses his hand like Luke did. However, that whole scene in ESB was a major revelation to Luke about Vader being his father. It was a major, pivital turning point for his character. Aside from Anakin losing his hand, the AOTC battle didn't hold any meaning for him. Frankly (regardless of whether it were to have happened at the end of Episode II, or sometime in Episode III, or whatever), I think it would have been more appropriate if Palpatine had cut off Anakin's hand. I would require the reworking of the overall PT, but I think it would have been more appropriate if Anakin had basically discovered the Sith Lord (without yet knowing it was Palpatine... he would basically have his face covered by his hood), battle him, and lose his hand in that battle, just as he discovers the Sith Lord's true identity. Now THAT would have been a powerful seen. But most of the visual parallels that Lucas makes between the OT and PT really lack the same emotion and/or meaning the the respective trilogies, and instead are just about as superficial and generic as can be. |

Dynamo, you're being a bit harsh about the 'mirror' aspects of the films, as IMO there's some clever stuff going on at times. But you're so, so right about the character introductions, and TylerDurden above mentioned the OT Emperor as the perfect example of how to do it. Dooku and Grievous are not, and it kills the continuity between the films (which I've mentioned before is my #1 problem with the PT).

Parallel, more like surpassed when he had Yoda come in to face Dooku in a scene of ultimate badassery. Imagine what could have been in ESB if Yoda had went with Luke to Cloud City instead of hobbling his muppet ass along back on Dagobah. Oh what could have been.

I like how the strongest characters in the OT, Sidious and Yoda, don't need to perform flips or pull out sabers to convince the viewer they are incredibly powerful. RLM reviewer said something along the lines of, "We had a wise old Yoda who taught us about the Force and now we have a cartoony CGI Yoda that does video game shit." I lol'd. ![]() I don't care if someone hates the prequels, but obsessing over something you hate just seems weird. At least with people who blindly and perhaps illogically love the prequels are obsessing over something they love. Some Star Wars fans I will just never understand. Some make the films deeper and better than they really are and some characterize them as far worse than the reality of it. And then there are those in the middle who appreciate the films for what they are; perfectly imperfect escapist entertainment. |

Ewan McGregor did a fantastic job connecting his Obi-wan with Alec Guinness' Obi-wan but the PT Yoda not only seemed disconnected from the OT Yoda, it seemed somehow discordant...more like a reboot than a continuous storyline. |
