The prequels hurt themselves as they're by-products of the reactions of the previous movies. The antagonists should have been threaded through each film, we should have heard about Count Dooku in TPM and General Grievous in Attack of the Clones. Star Wars seems to get the most mileage about throwaway lines, whether it's the Clone Wars mentioned in the originals or the Fallen Jedis in the prequels, our imaginations run wild with cool fantasies!

It just seems particularly weird to me because I think the prequels are almost Battlefield Earth-esque terrible. Of course, Roger Christian believes his film will one day be discovered as a minor masterpiece... Who knows?

Probably, but not for the same reason he hopes.

Some nice Star Wars books coming out that would make great Xmas gifts.

http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Cost...ords=star+wars

The costumes book might be great for having a lot of stills of the actors in their costumes that might not have been seen before.

Yeah, I've had the Costumes book on pre-order for awhile now. Should go nicely with the Prequels Costumes book.

This is a Deal of the Week at $80?? I'm not sure that Amazon is making a good effort on this one Yes it's worth it, but deal may be a bit confusing for most people for a choice of words.

That act will permit the Republic to create an army to fight the Separatists, which surely wouldn't be in their best interests if they intend to secede? Typical Lucas nonsense.

[edit] The real reason is that the Trade Federation want her killed as a small favour for joining Dooku's Separatist movement (which Dooku duly obliges, dispatching Jango to take of it), but no-one knows that at the start of the movie so where Padme pulls it from I don't know. Perhaps there was some excised dialogue from that scene which made it clear that the Federation were being wooed by the Separatists, so she put two and two together after what happened between her and the Federation ten years earlier. Reminds me of the line in Ep I about "not condoning a course of action that will lead us to war", because no-one in that scene actually suggests fighting the Federation invasion in the final film, whereas in the script Sio Bibble says "we must prepare to defend ourselves" to which Padme replies with the above, which then makes perfect sense.

That's what's so galling about reading the scripts for I and II, a lot of it makes sense on the page but when Lucas got finished with the final product the dialogue scenes were pared down to the bare bones to make room for more farting CG animals and Mario Bros. droid foundry scenes. And he really should've included some of the stuff with Padme's family on Naboo in Ep II, there's a bit when she looks at Anakin that's got more feeling and emotion than everything else she did in the film put together.
I'm sorry...what? Mario Bros. droid foundry scenes? You're mentioning Mario Bros. here?

Yeah, Amazon's real deals are usually just price matches of Best Buy, Target or Wal-Mart. Amazon would be lost without them as competition. We'd be getting a lot more "deals" like this one...

Amazing the discussion that goes on here when no one can see the man behind the curtain pulling the strings. Just ends up turning into more irrational Lucas bashing. The answers are there. It's pretty evident. But I degrees. Haters gonna hate.

The prequels are garbage. George Lucas wrote and directed them so who else are we supposed to hate?

LOL OK. And Firefly was a garbage show and mediocre movie from a kiddie-tweener writer and director.

See, I can use hyperbole to.

You do remember Attack of the Clones, right? When Padme's doing the leaping and the jumping on the conveyor during the droid foundry scene? It's like something from a video game, hence the offhand Mario Bros. reference, and I'm particularly sore about it because it's one of Lucas' additions in the reshoots. He felt that more action was needed at that point, but it's running time that could've been given over to that pesky character/plot stuff instead. As much as I defend the man, he's also made some extremely daft decisions over the years.

While it isn't anything concrete, I'm shocked that folks haven't been talking about this - everyone else has been.

Again, it isn't solid info on anything, but it's leading some to believe that any issue between Fox and Disney has been addressed - for Disney to be advertising digital versions of the OT.

No, it is just Disney's way of getting one over/around Fox.

Going to this on Saturday at BAM as part of their Puppets on Film series.

http://www.bam.org/film/2014/return-of-the-jedi

Considering it's being billed as The 2011 Star Wars: The Complete Saga edition, I don't expect anything different than a DLP of the Blu-ray version. But...I put the information out there.
