I honestly don't mind too many alterations as they are kind of insignifcant at times, but this one just doesn't sounds right. I'm not sure if it's teh fact that I have seen the original without the NO so many times, but it just seems like something that wasn't needed. I mean, you can tell he was saying NO inside by picking the damn guy up. Why do we have to HEAR him say it? It just doesn't add anything to make it necessary.

I'll get over it though.

Besides, we all know Lucas just is not a good director anymore and makes poor decisions. I don't expect anythhing good to coem from him at all towards this series.

He wasnt supposed to sound like a badass there. His last link to love and his humanity wad dying in that scene. It wasnt till after that that he became the cold gangster SOB badass Vader we remember from the OT, the cold gangster in all black with the cape and no love.
BTW, in ESB, Luke also has a similar sounding "NO," "NO" when he's reacting to learning that Darth Vader is his father. I would say that was Luke's rock bottom moment.
This is the beauty of the complete Star Wars saga, everything has precedent, everything all ties in together.

Serenity was a good ending to Firefly, but to compare it with SW? Come on, what did it make like 25m (actually it made $25,514,517).

No, the PT is way better than Serenity (by the way, this is the SW thread).

Some of the worst blu-ray transfers in existence? yeah not so much, I don't own them on blu despite being a use Trek fan.
Plus for a long while we only got the directors cuts in the wrong OAR.

I was hoping that the thread had actually managed to get back on track after the rage dumps of yesterday.

I guess I just expect the better from human beings, even if it's so much easier to be nasty behind the safety of the internet.

I actually hope you are right because the unedited versions need to be released on blu ray.

Also seen the change in carbon freeze in jedi. Why even bother changing it in the first place it looked fine now it looks like something from harry potter some magic happening. WTF man!!!

There is some good changes to it. light saber fix in jedi,CGI Yoda in Phantom,The eyes on EWOK. They don't look like puppets anymore. They now look like alive teddybear creature. Wampa arm fix.

But then the other pointless ones are just to many off.

First off let me say that i just seen that scene and there is nothing wrong with it it does not take away anything from that scene it does not muffle the other spoken dialogue.

I WILL be keeping my pre-order as i suspect the other MILLIONS of people will be too.

I still have my 2004 dvd's. Anyone who cancels there pre-order is stupid in time this will grow on you.

Lucas always intended for Vader to say NOOOO. It's not like he added it to piss off fans.

The only fix in all these years that looks good to me is the Puppet from TPM. Not because it looks better in cgi but because they got the puppet all wrong in the first place and looked nothing like Yoda from the OT.

Hey guys, can anyone who's seen the blu ray ROTJ scene tell me if the "Nooo" then "NooOOOOoo" are in there but Luke's plea of "Father, please......help me!" has been eliminated or turned down dramatically?

I've decided I can almost push myself through accepting the no's, but not sure I can withstand the elimination of Luke's pleas.

Everything is still intact nothing has been taken away and nothing is muffled you can still here everything. the nooo that everyone is complaining about is very short and quick.

times change im afraid....YOUR childhood is completely different to a modern day childhood now
My niece and nephew are mesmerized by the likes of Pete's Dragon, Mary Poppins, and Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Hardly photo-realistic, and in the case of Pete's Dragon, rather pedestrian in terms of photography. But the films absolutely grab hold of a child's imagination and a child's ability to fill in the blanks as the child tries to understand what he or she are seeing. A child sees Return of the Jedi and doesn't need to see the Ewoks "blink", he or she just accepts them as presented, and the child then fills in the gaps all on his own.

This is the same reason why animation is so gripping to young minds. Animation is clearly unreal, but the young mind accepts the unreality by substituting the unreality for known reality, and once that starts to happen, all sorts of associations follow - hence Bambi's mother is not a drawing, and is not a deer - she comes to represent the very real mother in that child's life, hence the trauma children have when she is suddenly killed.

Star Wars has worked in the same way - Lucas even once referred to the original Star Wars as a "Disney film" - I think trying to make it ever-more photo-real is self-defeating, just as attempts to make Bambi more realistic would be self-defeating.

That said, I would like to see the OOT fully restored and released on Blu-Ray. But I will accept if that day never comes.

I usually stay out of the UOT/SE discussions even though I feel the UOT should be restored and released on Blu-ray, more than ever now.

Yes, he said in '95-'96 that they would never be released again. Years and years ago, as you stated. He went back on that promise, so his "no more OOT after this" didn't hold water. People kept complaining and complaining, and ten years later he relented and released them, on DVD, in 2006. A poor excuse of a DVD that was non-anamorphic, grainy, and sourced from a 1993 LD master. A big improvement over the VHS of '95-'96 and fairly similar to the LD in video quality but much worse in audio quality. It definitely deserves better. That last release was only five years ago.

Since the constant complaints generated a release ten years after he promised "no more", most figure that if they continue to complain that he will eventually relent again on Blu-ray. He did say this last fall when asked about the Blu-rays and the theatrical versions:

“We've been working on them for quite a while(9/12 Blu-rays),” Mr. Lucas said, “but still, there are pipelines. Unfortunately, the recent releases get priority over what we call the classic versions of things.”

http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/20...ray-next-year/

That statement could possibly indicate a wavering on the issue. It's certainly an improvement over his nonsensical "they don't exist anymore" statements of the past. Only time will tell. Assuming they won't ever be released again is just as ridiculous as assuming they will, to paraphrase another member here.

Let people discuss what they want around here and praise/criticize whatever they want if they follow the rules. To me, those who complain about the "complainers" are just people that can't stand criticism of their sacred cows. It's a discussion board about Blu-ray, and specifically Star Wars in this thread. Opinions don't need to be all positive. This isn't supposed to be a den of sycophants. It's supposed to be people with opinions from all ends of the spectrum. Those opinions can run the gamut from positive to negative and be repeated as often as they like. We've got post*****s here who run up the page counts and I don't see the pro-changes crowd moaning about that. Surely, this was never intended to be a board where only praise and rosy statements about Star Wars and George Lucas' ideas are allowed. It's a discussion board.

Exactly. He is his own worst enemy and is turning a good chunk of his fan base against him. All other directors do their best to avoid this, but for some reason (ego?) Lucas thinks he is above it. I understand he doesn't like how the original films turned out, but there are ways to make everyone happy. I just do not understand WHY he wouldn't want to show fans the two (or 4...lol) alternative cuts. That way fans can compare and contrast, and see all the hard work that went into each cut. Let the world see the 'progress' made from first cut to final. It is not rocket science. But whatever, PT set is all I am buying this time around (I know, I am brave for admiting that...lol, but no way is my money going to a the OT at this point).
