I thought it was odd when I watched how the scene played out with the change, and personally don't care for it.
As I said pages ago the first no is actually a welcome change to me, but the second over the top no is just that, over the top.

I watched that ugly copy at least 30 times (usually with a group of friends). The image was so bad that, at times, you couldn't even make out who or what was on the screen. But that didn't bother us. We were watching Star Wars at home!!

How ironic that the inaccurate color of a lightsaber is something that bothers me today. Back then, I could barely see the lightsaber and I was happy.

Technology marches forward.

Yes when you look at it that way all this moaning seems redundant.

Well we just got spoiled over the following 30 years and as such you keep expecting new and improve things for every new releases, I think it's a normal human reaction

Luke Skywalker and the heroes of the OT just shoved up in the right corner like an afterthought. Definitely got a head-shaking chuckle out of that one.
Have you noticed how little Luke, Leia. Lando and Solo are thought if in this picture? All the main players in the OT are relegated to the far little corner as the whole picture revolves mostly around the PT. Just an observation on the OP's part and I agree as well. I find this very strange

Yes I remember upgrading from vhs to laserdisc, and then from dvd to blu-ray and being more and more impressed.

I do think however certain people will never be happy no matter how this and other big movie boxsets turn out,at least Lucas has a passion for his movies, and I feel only wants to present them in the best possible way.

It's certainly better than a director who neither cares or is bothered about the transfers of their movies onto the blu-ray format.

And there are many examples out there of these type of directors.

Once again lets try to remain on topic with news/discussion about the release. Posting unreleated YouTube videos, altered images, constant off topic postings, fighting, baiting or insults will lead to a short suspension.

Sergorn over on theforce.net forum has posted a comparison pic of a scene from ROTJ the top is from the 2004 the bottom is the blu-ray.

He got them from mf.com

It seems that they did fix the sabers:

Instead of deriding him, why don't you just wait for the release before jumping on the bandwagon with all of the other doomsayers and "I know better than GL" crowd. I don't see any of you being filmmakers or offering up suggestions based on fact. Everything that has been posted is heresay at best.

In ROTJ yes. But not ESB and ANH. We have all known the issue was resolved in the ROTJ duel on the rips. That's the point SOME were fixed but not all. Especially the white saber on the Falcon.

I am not sure who will have their sets today,as even Dvd world and Movietyme.com have not received their stock yet.

As a rule both these suppliers ship three weeks before street date,as long as you are not a U.s resident.

No kidding.

That picture perfectly symbolizes why Star Wars no longer resonates with me the way it once did. It is a collage of forgettable, cardboard characters, with the heart shoved off into the corner; the dismissal of what's old is simultaneously a dismissal of what was best.

I can't decide whether that picture is a better illustration of delusion or megalomania.

Bright white cores instead of washed out coloured ones. The word is there is some correction applied in some scenes in ANH and ROTJ but ESB remains untouced and very, very pink. But these are only the rips ey Handy, every chance the blu's will be different
