The truth is probably the following:

Ep II and III look very good.

Ep I has mostly mild but occasionally severe dnr.

Ep IV and V look good considering they are old transfers, but a new transfer would have helped fine grain.

Ep VI looks mostly good considering the old transfer, but 5 minutes in the middle are filtered.
I'm just speaking from past experience, but it doesn't seem as likely that the reviewers could not separate the picture quality from the review of the movie. I'm sure there are plenty of movies they have reviewed with a good picture quality, even though the movie might be terrible. So I'm sure most people won't try that.

That doesn't mean it's a good scene, let alone a scene that makes sense to put in after ROTJ was made.

It ruins all suspense of leading up to Jabba and the hwoloe thing seems out of character for the Jabba we know of ROTJ. Not to mention the CGI just isn't convincing and the "tail step" is just amateur hour stuff.

I twas a neat idea as a bonus feature. It's a lot like the PT ruining the ending of ESB for anyone new to the franchise. You need to watch the OT first for it not to be ruined.

As we enter into this dark time...

I pledge not to fly off the handle about any changes. I'll express mild disappointment only (or glee if it means the deletion of any of HC's lines in Episodes II/III ).

Eh.It's so ingrained in popular culture at this point it's not really possilble to spoil the reveal.

And honestly? All it does is emphasize Luke's shock at discovering this, rather than the cheap shock of the audience.

I don't know. If someone never saw Star Wars, I would still make them watch the original trilogy first before the prequels. Just because we know it's out there, we can't assume everyone know about Vader - Luke relationship. My wife knew nothing about Star Wars and never hear of Vader - Luke. When we first watched them together I went original and then prequels for her.

I was speaking for new generations, the kids and such.

Nothing emphasizes that shock much like feeling the same shock with him. I sure as hell will never forget as a kid how I felt when I first saw that movie and that scene. Now it's redundant & melodramatic in context.

Yes, and actors make up all the lines of a script as they go along and the movies are shot pretty much in real time, right?

You think it took 20 minutes to write an episode of 24? You don't have very much respect for writers, do you?

It's a good point. But honestly, I think feeling Luke's reaction rather than the reaction of the viewer is more interesting.

The original way it plays out... is almost M. Night Shamalamadingdong level of Cheesy Reveal.

screenshots are never a substitute for moving video

even 1080p vs 720p, video is still better when judging the quality of a transfer.

The rips have been posted in 1080p now anyways, so who gives a hoot about screenshots
