As for RotS, well, by the time it was over, Vader had lost all his mystique for me and I hate the idea of whiny/constipated face Hayden Christensen behind the mask. They castrated the character and I'm not even sure I'll be able to put it out of my mind if I ever watch the OT again.
You obviously haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about.

That's OK. There are many others like you.

Thanks for such a patronizing, condescending, "anyone who disagrees with me is an idiot" response. I appreciate it.

+1 I can wait a long time for the superior editions. There's a lot of great films out there to keep me occupied. Once a high quality official release of the theatrical cuts are out, I'll become a fanboy again and buying more Star Wars products.

I think it was the 'everything was CGI' in your post he was commenting on. The prequels had more practical sets and model work than the original films (there's even a quote in this thread somewhere to that effect). It's just a misconception that they were all CGI.

In that case, I stand corrected.

He still could have explained what he meant like you just did.

Yep. Exactly.

If I am not mistaken each of the prequels had more practical sets, miniatures, and models than the entire OT put together.

Of course they had more sets, more was put into the production of the PT, but the CGI is still rampant!!

Grain carries detail and more detail is what Blu-Ray is all about. It has never been about a manipulated artificial clean picture. If you want that, then seek out those crappy old Blu-Rays which used those crappy old outdated masters. The studios know this which is why for some time now, they have made the correct transition to giving films brand new 2K or 4K masters faithfully preserving the grain structure. Take for example Casablanca and Patton. Both were originally just old masters digitally tweaked and contrast boosted. The new released Blu-Rays are well preserved faithfully exucted well done transfers going back to the orignal source negatives which contain grain (although its very fine with Patton anyway since it was shot and projected on 65/70mm film.)

Anyway, the days of crappy Predator Ultimate Hunter Edition transfers are over, get with the times and embrace what film is actuelly suppose to look like closer to the way it was intended. Grain is not the enemy, its a friend. Unlike VHS and DVD, grain on a good Blu-Ray looks natural and authentic.

Plus the size of your display might have something to do with it. I was once ignorant like you a few years ago when watching Blu-Ray discs on my 32" HD TV, now I am more educated and have a 55" display, and what a difference it makes calibrated.

Lightsaber battles wasting time?, they are the entire fun of this franchise. Not liking any of those prequel Lightsaber duels is like disliking big natural breasts.

I also prefer models over CGI but the CGI these prequels gave us were pretty damn awesome and this is coming from an old school Tokusatsu fan.

Did you want Vader to be mysterious right until the end with no backstory or history revealed?, how boring is that. You'd then complain the villain was 2 dimentional.

Christensen was better in Sith than AtoC. But I leave the whiney/constipated face to Froto in the LotR trilogy.

To me it's all about the PQ being clean and crisp. When I do watch one with heavy grain I feel like I'm watching a VHS tape. I can handle minor grain but not when it's mega heavy (ie. The Battlestar Galactica Blu-rays).

Mine is a 50" Samsung. I'd give up my Family for it.

Personally I don't think there was 1 shitty lightsaber battle in the prequel films. I loved them all but the best of the best belongs to Maul vs. Obi/Qui AND Ani vs. Obi-Wan in the final fight.

Me either. In fact it boggles my mind. It's like Looking at Natalie Portman and saying she is ugly.

Anyway, on the topic of SW... Anyone here a fan of The Clone Wars series and anyone own the Blu-rays?

Are you being sarcastic or serious? Hard to tell.

The rest of what you wrote is "blah blah blah I love the prequels" but I give you +1 for this simile because it made me laugh. Well done.

ROTS looks good but TPM looks like it went through DNR hell! AOTC was just a horrible movie. When I watch SW I just watch 3-6 I have no need or desire to watch 1 and 2, it makes the films more entertaining to me.

TPM and AOTC are fantastic films, and worlds better than any other those other fantasy action films made nowadays.

In fact, AOTC is many a lady's favorite, including my sister, who is really old school.

I love it to death also. It'll always remain the most unforgettable experience at the movies!!! Simply incredible!

SHOCKER AHEAD: She is one of those who prefers puppets, and models over CGI, and always said that CGI looked fake, but when we watched ROTS the other day, she said that Yoda looked better than the puppet, and that the acting was far improved as well.

She finally chose the CG Yoda over the puppet, and she is damn hard to please!

Yoda in ROTS is mindblowing!

They should really put that Yoda in AOTC, so that the prequels are consistent in that respect. They already updated the puppet of TPM with the ROTS Yoda, so they should do it all the way!
These are the things I don't understand George!

I love the acting of Yoda in ATOC, but the model is not nearly as good as the one in ROTS.

Now that Abrams is doing the new Star Wars movie, it kind of makes me wonder if it will be shot on film since all of his movies have been, even the newest Trek coming out this year.
