That's a bummer. For better or worse, Lucas always always took Star Wars in a different and innovative direction. Maybe they'll use his ideas for the sequels and they just wanted Ep7 to be more of a transition, fan-service movie. Maybe not, maybe they came up with some great ideas o their own. Time will tell, but I'll miss the Lucas touch.

They can't use his idea in a sequel if there are no threads to pick up if the first installment.

I assumed that's what essentially happened when it was announced they had dumped Arndt's draft, but now it totally sounds like one of those fly-on-the-wall moments.

I'm sure Lucas will still probably get a story credit of some kind.

I had sources, but I couldn't disclose them. Now that it is finally out in to open, I can back it up. Still can't disclose my sources though.

Watch around the time that The Force Awakens comes out... There will be an announcement regarding Kathleen Kennedy. I've already talked about this a few months ago as well.

Nope, they threw out all of it.
It is now story and script by Abrams and Kasdan.

They could still do it, with the way writing credits and production sentiments work. There are numerous examples, but one relevant to SW is that Leigh Brackett was still credited on The Empire Strikes Back despite virtually nothing from her first draft carrying over to subsequent drafts by Kasdan.

Story details I don't have, just the behind the scenes info.
I've told my sources to keep all story details to themselves.
I want to go and see the movie for the first time when I sit down in the theater, not through trailers, tv spots, online postings or in my emails...

Considering how hated the prequels are I doubt many people will miss him, honestly.

Why do they always crush the blacks?
The outer robe loses info in the mouse over when it goes darker, same as his beard...

No, loses... You can see more of the brown in the "lighter" of the two shots. In the darker one, the fold on the right side, by the hood becomes almost completely black.
Definition in HIS left ear is also lost.

Absolutely crappy if true. I have to doubt that will happen.

Just speculation...at least it probably increases the odds of getting the unaltered OT on Blu. If they are not listening to Lucas for the new movie, they probably won't listen to his potential (likely) insistance of not having it released.

They're only hated by a small minority of cynical fans who are very vocal online. Ask a 9 year-old what he thinks of the Prequels and you'll get the proper response.

lol these type of things crack me up. This was digitally filmed in 2K and now someone has "recreated" a '4k theatrical print'? Analog film (which is implied here) is not pixel based so 4K is not even applicable.

Possibly not, but Lucas has always been one of the boldest filmmakers in the business, and I'll miss him if Ep7 ends up being a series of meaningless homages instead of a proper film that stands on its own (e.g. the climax of Into Darkness). The prequels had their problems, but a lack ambition and innovation were not among them.

I'm guessing that Abrams will craft some fun movies that will be popular but ultimately forgettable (and likely lost in a sea of spin-offs). Love it or hate it, you can't deny that people are still talking about Phantom Menace like it came out last year.

But surely most of the ticket sales were from adults and fans from the original movie era. I'm not sure there is a ton of enthusiasm amongst 9-year-olds in regards to Star Wars today. Every kid lived and breathed it in the 70s and 80s, but times were different and Star Wars was truly a revolutionary and cultural phenomenon at that time. I was part of it being 5 yrs old in 1977. Nowadays, there are so many other things. I also think the original trilogy had far more appeal in ways (heart and soul) compared to the prequels which no one really connected to despite the time and era change.
