You should be debating whether or not to divorce her!

Mine doesnt care for the OT either. A New Hope does take its time to get going and noobs can lose interest. The Tatooine stuff is great for us fans but I can see how it could get a little tedious for others. Its my favorite one bay far.

You could try Empire but the precedent has been set. She wont likely care for ESB either - if shes not "into" it then it will probably cause her to fall asleep again.

Since you addressed it as a thing, clearly using the adjective was right, but you're the alleged English teacher.
No, in this case I meant a consciousness-expanding thing, as in a thing or things that affects another thing, like a weight-loss tool, or mind-expanding drugs. Luckily (or lamentably,) the internet isn't subject to the rules of academic writing.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go cash my 'alleged' paycheck which I probably didn't get because I don't really have a job.

Sorry for the OT.

I always noticed it as far back as the THX release from 1993 (?) but I didn't have the same standards dvd, blu-ray, and HD have given me. I always thought of it as part of the charm.

I would-- I don't want to be burned at the stake but I could definitely see someone thinking the original film is kinda boring and hokey, especially if they didn't grow up with it. There's the long stretch at the beginning with Jawas and Luke's farm, and even some of the action with the Tie Fighters and the Death Star trench-run might be kinda "ho-hum" to some people (keep in mind everyone that I absolutely DO NOT think that about Star Wars, lol).

Empire is actually to me a much more exciting and interesting film-- as much as I enjoyed the original movie, Empire is what really got me into the story and characters and solidified my love of Star Wars. Even Return of the Jedi, which is the most flawed of the three, had such an epic and emotional climax that I could even see someone overall enjoying it more than the original film.

So I'd say show her Empire, and if she doesn't really like that one, she just isn't a Star Wars fan and you should probably abandon the whole thing.

Return of the Jedi is my favorite of the three.

Just finished watching Star Wars: A New Hope again. I try to watch the original trilogy around the holidays. And as always after watching it I am still giddy over how great these films are. I am fine with the Special Editions of IV and V. But I might have to pop in my unaltered DVD version of ROTJ this year. The amount of tweaks in the Special Edition are beyond atrocious.

Hey, remember this?

Just came across this link again, (http://comicbook.com/2015/09/19/disn...l-star-wars-t/) and it reminded me that while I have no idea what prompted you to make this post back in February, you were almost right about the release date of the John Landis rumor

If so those are garbage mattes which are apart of the optical effects, and they are probably more noticeable now on BD due to the 1080p resolution and more intense contrast vs the VHS.
Yep this is exactly what I was talking about

Yeah, I agree. I love all three because I grew up with them and love sci-fi, but I can totally see the first one as the more rough and amateurish of them all in a lot of ways. I told her Empire feels more like a complete film and is one of my top five all time films. She seems open to it. We shall see.

I feel a need to point out she loved Star Trek 2 and 6, and THAT'S MY GIRL!

(I'm more of a Trek guy than Wars).

I think she would like it a lot, but she hasn't agreed to watch it yet. It's like pulling teeth to get her to watch ANY movie, so I only get rare victories. She is very much your stereotypical reality TV and phone obsession girl. Thank god I have my own movie room.

Mine liked all the SW films (that's 1-6 peeps) and all the TREK films except she hasn't yet seen TMP & V. First year we were together we saw Episode II and Nemesis opening day after I introduced her to Episode I (she'd seen the OT already) and TWOK (had not seen any TREK films) a few months before. Happy memories.

I'm surprised she stayed with you after subjecting her to the PT!

She's not obsessive hater who dwells on the negative. She likes them, likes the OT, and is really looking forward to The Force Awakens.

I know several people who used to really like the prequels before the internet told them they were supposed to hate them.
