You may want to read that "perfectly sane, well-written, logical" post again, because it definitely isn't what Star Wars is about, nor does it make sense, but whatever.

Y'know bluyoda, I sometimes get the impression that you deliberately try to stir things up around these forums by acting juvenile and purposefully saying things that you know will irritate people.

Though it can get nasty pretty quick with insults and condescending comments <cough>Bluyoda<cough>

But yeah, it seems like there are a few people that keep coming on here just to say "oh look at the people arguing! Not like me, I don't care, 'cause I'm cool. That's why I'm on this Star Wars message board, to tell you all how totally lame are you are for discussing Star Wars."

No dude, NO! Don't you understand anything? If you don't approve of the prequels or the SE's or the previous blu ray saga cover art, and if you don't praise the s#@t out of everything that Lucas created from 1997-2011 then you're a HATER and don't understand Star Wars! Haven't the profound and wise words of Bluyoda taught you anything!?

Nah, just messin' with ya.

Which is a shame. Creating to overall story was Lucas' greatest strength as a writer. It also makes me concerned that TFA will include a lot of fan-pleasing homages and near shot-for-shot recreations of iconic original trilogy moments (as we got with parts of Into Darkness) rather than something newly iconic and memorable.

I wouldn't worry about it. Unless the movie literally starts with a crash landing on a planet that looks exactly like Tatooine, or something like that. That would be a bad sign.

Well we do know that Finn will crash on Jakku in a tie fighter. Don't know if it'll happen right at the beginning though.

I think it's a good sign Disney wasn't listening to his ideas for the new movie as it bodes a better chance for the unaltered originals to get restored.

So we could expect a release from Disney in 2020?

just a couple issues i took away from this article...

"He’s a passionate defender of an artist’s right to go back and tweak his work..." - which is the reason he spoke before Congress against the colorization of old films & for the films to be preserved in their natural state?

also... “To me, art is communicating emotions — that’s all,” Lucas says. “That’s art. If it’s not communicating emotions and it’s just an intellectual exercise, then it’s just a road map. Or it’s a set of plans for a building, it’s not the building itself."

...that's pretty laughable given how emotionless the prequel trilogy was, seeming more like an exercise in CGI rather than the motives of the characters

Reading that article makes me wonder what Lucas was thinking when he made the original SW regarding Han shooting first. If he thinks that Han should be John Wayne, and that Wayne would not have shot first, then why film it that way to begin with? Sometimes, I think that Lucas has revised his opinion more than he has the SW saga.

He really thought he was doing an emotional character journey with realistic looking effects. He says it in the commentaries and whatnot. He just did a really, really poor execution.

I don't think either issue has anything to do with the other.

Yes, it's that pesky motive-destroying CGI again! It magically erases everything else going on in the movie through its power to distract you.

So is Anakin "emo" or emotionless? Which one is it today? Is this some kind of quantum state thingy?

Based on what I've heard of Lucas' plans for Episode VII I'm absolutely glad they tossed them in the garbage. His original outline focused on very young characters and teens - which sounds exactly like he wanted another crack at the horrendous template he used in TPM. I don't think I could sit through another 2+ hour go cart race starring an over-the-top precocious little shithead. Imagine how awful the originals would've been if Luke, Hand and Leia all ranged from 12-14 years old.

I honestly feel like George's best years creatively are behind him. While I appreciate everything he done for Star Wars and fandom, it's time to have people who's entire lives have been influenced by his films take over the helm.

The problem is: that's a big tent. And much like a circus tent, you find all kinds of characters underneath - freaks, carnies, the occasional bearded lady.
