I'm sure it's been discussed previously somewhere, but just want to clarify as to why we have yet to receive digital HD codes included with the endless re-releases for the "Star Wars" original trilogy? I'm sure it has something to do with distribution rights and if I'm not mistaken those first films (and the prequel trilogy) are still under FOX, correct? If so, FOX releases their titles with digital so I'm still not sure why the recent steelbook editions didn't have digital. Has anybody heard of yet another box set for these that perhaps will include digital? Any info is appreciated. May the Force be strong with all of you 😛

Fox titles release with Ultraviolet or iTunes which are competition for Disney. Disney has the Disney Movies Anywhere service. I'm guessing Fox would have to release the trilogy with DMA only codes as Disney probably won't allow UV or iTunes. The trilogy would have to include DMA only codes which I am not sure Fox would want to do.

Yeah I figured it was something like that. It's only in the past year or so I've fully embraced building my digital library, and since I have TFA now I want to add the original trilogy to my digital library too. Prequels, eh not so much lol. Appreciate the reply. Suppose I'll just purchase the original 3 films on VUDU or through DMA itself.

4K is the number of times Lucas wants to sell us the movie before he finally gets it right

Hey, quick question regarding the OT soundtracks...

Now that Sony have released the original soundtracks for the OT on vinyl record (with individual releases still to come), does anyone know whether the masters are the same as those for the Blu-ray?

I'm curious because although Sony say that these have been 'transferred using the highest resolution restoration from the original master tapes (up to 127khz/24bit)', I seem to recall that Lucasfilm went to a great deal of trouble to restore the soundtracks for the Blu-rays; even sourcing the original recordings pre-mix.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Star-Wars-E...tar+wars+vinyl

You'll have to forgive my naivety - they could well be referring to the master tape that was used solely for the soundtrack release, not the theatrical.

Either way, can't wait to get my hands on Ewok Celebration! Hopefully a sign of things to come...

If You buy the Vinyl Box set or buy digital files - yes you will have exactly the soundtracks in original versions from 1977, 1980 and 1983 releases. But if You buy the CD's boxset You will get 1997 versions, only in a new shiny box. If You want the best edition on CDs You must wait till 2019 or 2020, when Sony will loose rights and Mike Mattessino will make a new fresh editions with new mastered sound then from original multi-track masters

I'm a huge SW fan, and have been ever since I first saw ANH in the theater as a first grader back in '77.

When I got my first Blu player back in December 2012, the first set I got was this SW Saga. In fact, this set is one of the reasons I got a Blu player in the first place.

Obviously, these prints of the films - especially of ANH, ESB, and ROTJ - are the best prints out there - truly incredible. The level of detail here (that was missing from previous releases) was profound.

And, of course, the extras on this set are amazing - including the plethora of deleted scenes from the OT (most of which I never saw before), as well as the excellent animated Boba Fett sequence from the late '70's Holiday Special.

Anyone see the Lightsaber duel special on ESPN 2 today? Nothing groundbreaking or new but some decent buts about the evolution of Lightsaber combat over the saga.

Sorry but that is BS, the transfers are very old, are DNR'd, have frozen grain, fake grain, edges are sharpened, edge halos around figures, a few parts are upscaled, the blacks are crushed, the color timing is wrong, and and and...
