I think the simplest explanation is that if you're that powerful with the Force, you can choose to present your Force Ghost as whatever version you want. It's really not that big of a deal.

I don't have a plot or continuity issue with it really. I just think he looks super creepy and leave the damn movies alone.

I've said this before: I don't mind the Hayden ghost in principal, but my word the execution of it is woeful! I think they actually used an outtake of Hayden for the initial fade-in, he's kinda smirking at something off-camera and then straightens up, it's just so horribly amateurish.

And that theme carries on into the last round of changes done for the Blus, most of them look so fake and cheesy.

The changes for the Blu-ray are just arbitrary. At least with the 97 and 04 changes, they were understandable (if mostly unnecessary and some downright awful, at least I can kinda understand what Lucas was going for). But R2's rock? Kenobi's new wailing sound to scare off the Sand People? It's like he just changed things for the hell of it.

He probably put a bunch of changes into a punch bowl and pulled them out at random. Christ only knows what other horrors he was intending to revisit on the movies.

And it's a shame too, as the newly redone sound mix for the Blu of Star Wars is sooooooo much better than the clipped DVD mix with its myriad of problems.

The one thing I hate the most in the BD release is Vader's NO! in ROTJ. It's completely unnecessary.

I've never even bothered watching the RotJ Blu-ray. Only made it through ANH and ESB's discs once each. If I wanna watch the OT I just stick to those LE DVDs.

To be honest I was still tempted to get the BD even knowing all the changes, but when I heard about that it was the final straw for me. Nope nope nope.

Vader's NO! Was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

And about the Hayden ghost, I just like the cosistency of seeing three proud old men together, not two loving father figures and a young guy smirking.

I got rid of this set. Once I went Despecialized, I no longer had any use for it.

They cut the line from the Disney parks "attraction" Path of the Jedi. It works much better. You can tell what Vader is going through without the bad voice over.

Correct. Kind of a pain in the ass to download, but worth it.

Aren't there 35mm "restoration" scans out there now? Team Negative One, etc.?

These are my preferred versions. It's like how you'd see it if you attended a screening or something.

Were the contents of all 3 bonus discs also "despecialized"?

Better detail, but more specs, dirt, etc.?

The only thing on the bonus discs I was interested in was the deleted scenes, to be honest. And deleted scenes are, IMO, not something with a lot of replay value.

I do still have the bonus disc from the 2004 DVD trilogy, though!
