I actually love the Ewoks. What I love most about them is that they're portrayed as playful, cute and innocent even though they intend to cook our heroes (alive, for extra suffering) and eat them.
Yeah, they've always been derided as these furry little balls of cuteness but they've got a mean streak about them which I love, and you really feel the pain when the two get blown up and only one survives.

As much as I dislike the Ewok's I'll take them over the Gungan's anyday of the week.

Yeah, Gunguns are horrible.

Wookies > Ewoks >>>>>>>>>> Gunguns

Plus, Warwick Davis was an Ewok, we might not have gotten Willow if not for them.

They're pretty savage little bastards when you think about the implications of what they do. Like, the aforementioned almost cooking everyone alive, is that how they always do it? Just imagine some live animal tied to a pole, being lowered into a fire or a pot of boiling water while writhing and screeching. And when we see that empty Imperial armor at the end, what happened to the people inside? Did they meet the same fate that almost befell our heroes?

Ewoks are hardcore.

ROTJ is actually my favourite film of the series. Yes, Empire is the better made film, but where it has some slow moments, Jedi is just so much fun and never really slows down. I love the opening in Jabba's lair, the Rancor monster, the speeder bikes, the epic finale, and yes, I love the Ewoks!

Yeah, I love that bit when they're playing a tune on the helmets, it's just a throwaway moment but these guys love to get a few trophies of their kills, it seems.

Interesting, I find it tedious beyond belief until the third act. The opening act in Jabba's palace alone drags on forever (the #1 reason why watching the unaltered versions is the only way to go, since it saves you about 10 minutes of nonsense).

If we literally lower our standards -- and I know that sounds funny -- and appreciate the intention behind what's there, rather than lamenting what's NOT there, it's simply a lot more fun. Not everything can be Episode IV... or 2001... or Lawrence of Arabia... or Raiders of the Lost Ark. Those are bonafide classics. These are popcorn serials that are supposed to whisk us away to another universe... and I think they succeed beautifully. On that level, I can even accept the fact that Anakin hates sand because it gets everywhere. Have you heard the dialogue in the original Flash Gordon serials? George Lucas was VERY faithful.
Dude, look at a few random pages of my collection. I don't have high standards for genre movies, and I do enjoy schlock. That doesn't change the fact the first two prequels (and some of third) have poor dialog, performances and visual appeal. Granted if they weren't called Star Wars I might not complain as much, they'd be lumped together with mediocre stuff like Jupiter Ascending, but them's the breaks when you make sequels.

I actually prefer The Force Awakens to Return Of The Jedi *raises flame shield*.
I'll go one step further. Not only do I prefer TFA to ROTJ, but I also prefer TPM to it as well. I'm in real danger!

Are we talking about the "real" ROTJ or the crap Lucas edited together later? I liked the real ROTJ over TFA, but I like TFA over the edited crap ROTJ.

TFA is better than any version of ROTJ. Every Star Wars movie is.

There's that much added to the Jabba's palace scene in the special edition? I thought they just replaced certain things with CGI. Didn't know they added new scenes.

I love RotJ more and more with each viewing. I'm fairly indifferent towards the ewoks, but putting gungans above them is abhorrent.
