I picked up the new re-release of the Complete Saga at Walmart today, but after getting it home I discovered it's missing the disc for A New Hope. (There was an extra copy of Return of the Jedi instead.)

Was this a common issue with the 2015 re-release? Is there a number I can call to ask for a replacement disc so that Disney can simply laugh at me?

I've never heard of any issues with wrong discs being placed in any edition of the 9-disc "Complete Saga". Regardless, that's a Fox release so you'd be best served at their "Contact Us" page.

Has anybody else had trouble with The Force Awakens Blu-ray freezing and skipping?

When I bought this Blu-ray on the day of its release, back in April of 2016, it played fine. I haven't watched it since then, though.

During tonight's viewing, the picture froze around the 51:20 mark, when the Millennium Falcon is flying through hyperspace, and Rey moves the compressor. It pauses, and then skips forward a few seconds. When I skip back, it pauses at roughly the same time, but in slightly different ways.

The same thing happens just after the 1:23:00 mark, when Leia is looking at BB-8's map section at the Resistance base. The screen freezes and skips ahead a few seconds, but the freeze and skips are somewhat different each time I go back.

Aside from that, the disc plays great.

It could be the way that my Sony Blu-ray player reads the disc, but this is the first time that my two year-old Sony has ever had a problem with a Blu-ray.

Thanks for the link. I figured it was just a fluke, as I couldn't find reports of any similar issues online.

I have two different TFA BDs that I've played multiple times on two different Sony BDPS5500 players without a hiccup.

I've got a Sony BDPS6500, and I've never had a problem with a disc since I bought that player just over two years ago.

It's probably the disc itself, although I'm not sure what the deal is, since the disc played fine when I first bought it, and since it does not skip at exactly the same specific time, but at different points within a five-second range or so during the same scene. (I'm not sure if that makes any sense... It skips during the same two scenes on the disc, but not at the exact same second during each replay.)

I guess that this could be God's way of telling me that I should buy the newer edition Blu-ray with the commentary track.

Everything goes to Disney now is my understanding. So in theory a 4K or and unaltered OT would be under Disney's jurisdiction.
EDIT: Although, it could be under the Fox studio banner

Now that Disney owns Fox I guess this means we are going to get a new complete box set after they finish making the rest of the Star Wars Films.

The best thing about Disney buying Fox is now they can put the Fox Fanfare back in the beginning of the SW movies.

Just take it back to WalMart and exchange the set for another one.

O.K.
Disney has bought the film franchise from Fox.

Does this increase the OTR releases in HD?

It increases the chance of price increases.

Good morning! What's kept the original theatrical editions off of home video is the same thing that's always been doing that. It's not a studio thing.

Lucas, 2004:
Quote:
AP: Why not release both the originals and special editions on DVD?

Lucas: The special edition, that’s the one I wanted out there. The other movie, it’s on VHS, if anybody wants it. ... I’m not going to spend the, we’re talking millions of dollars here, the money and the time to refurbish that, because to me, it doesn’t really exist anymore. It’s like this is the movie I wanted it to be, and I’m sorry you saw half a completed film and fell in love with it. But I want it to be the way I want it to be. I’m the one who has to take responsibility for it. I’m the one who has to have everybody throw rocks at me all the time, so at least if they’re going to throw rocks at me, they’re going to throw rocks at me for something I love rather than something I think is not very good, or at least something I think is not finished
Well you know what George?

They now have distribution rights to the theatrical film. He's out of the loop if that's the case.
