Now with all that said has there been any hard news on the 4k releases?

As I have said before many times I don't understand the hate for TFA and TLJ. Yes, there are some pacing and script issues with both films, but I'll take them over TPM and AOTC any day of the week. I recently watched TPM again from start to finish and it has so much cringe worthy dialogue. The only redeeming qualities in the film has are the pod race and lightsaber fight. Frankly, I enjoyed TLJ a little more than TFA mainly because the viewer is able to connect with Rey on an emotional level. The only major problems I have with TLJ is Luke's character because he is far removed from the man we saw at the end of ROTJ. You could almost say he is an entirely different person and I don't see the death of a few students changing him as much as the film presents.

Why do they have to release it in the first place? It's not the first movie to be extensively reworked in post and studios don't always want to air that dirty laundry. You're not going to see the Lord & Miller footage from Solo for the same reason.

It’s the same reason why the PT was hated but is now looked at fondly. Time. The ST will be viewed differently in light of TROS, and as time passes too.

This reality. Are you really young? The prequels were absolutely hated! (I liked them). People had petitions against them. Lucas had to do damage controlled interviews defending them. In fact the main reason Lucas sold the franchise to Disney was that he was "sick of the poor reception" had enough, and wanted someone else to take the reins.

Now everyone loves the prequels. I attribute it to kids getting older and have their own nostalgia about them.

I am a 40 year old fan and I have always loved the prequels. Do I acknowledge there is some strong prequel hate? Of course I am not oblivious. I always get amused when people claim they were panned and they were hated by the majority of fans which is always been a laughable claim. In fact I would contend that the haters are more the vocal minority as we see with the sequel trilogy. If Star Ware no longer brings enjoyment to someone I suggest they find something else to do with there life other than bashing Lucas or Disney

Dialouge has never been a hallmark of the series. Going to a Star Wars movie for dialogue is like listening to a Beach Boys song for the lyrics. Things like mythological resonance, story, themes, sound, music, special effects, gravitas, sincerity, etc. are what have been hallmarks of the series. The prequels have those in spades. The ST does not. The 6 Lucas movies are also much more beautifally shot. Lucas has a great talent for capturing an idea in an image with awesome framing. The scenes are staged with a sort of elegance and dignity in conjunction with the sound and music, giving a sort of operatic feel. This is not present in the ST.
