By the time some ultimate edition comes out Blu Ray wont even be the medium anymore. That guy just needs to release them...and be done with it!

Only The Phantom Menace has been comfirmed for a 3D makeover if that's a success the others will follow. If the audience isn't there I'd imagine it will be a one off although I'm sure it will do quite well.

And for the other comment I'm sure you're in a very small minority. The world wouldn't be quite the same without Star Wars.

I am sure Phantom Menace will do well enough to warrant AotC, but like someone else previously stated, will AotC do well enough to warrant RotS? If they can make it past AotC, there is a good chance the rest will follow.

Honestly, complaining about Lucas isn't worth it. People are free to do so, but ultimately, as he himself says, it's his franchise and he can do what he wants with it. I doubt he's going to cave in, as it were, to the complaints.

I can tell you one thing. It won't be me. Whoever else, go ahead. The Force will be with this release, IMO.

Pfft. I won't defend the MANY outright mistakes in the 2004 mix, but the dialogue is what it is, i.e. a mix of production audio and some very low-rent ADR. No, it never sounded like that before, but the quality difference was so pronounced because they went back to the original dialogue stems and re-recorded them for the 2004 mix.

I'm kinda glad they did, because the production dialogue sounds astonishingly crisp and clear. The unfortunate side-effect is that it shows up the lousy dialogue replacement BIG TIME, but I'd rather have this up-down quality than having, say, the whole dialogue track hobbled to cover up the crappy ADR. YMMV.

Grief, this poor thread. This is actually worse than LoTR EEs, and it's not gonna improve by the time the release rolls around. Suggestions of relaxing are useless. Let us argue until the end of time.

We know they did use previous takes though not heard before in other mixes.

If people don't want it, then don't get it. It's that simple.

That alternate line was used in the 70mm mix IIRC. Those mixes were the basis for the SE 5.1 tracks, which is why some different lines crept in post-1997.
Anyway, the bits adywan is talking about are using the exact same dialogue tracks as always. It's just that they were remastered to such a high quality that the poor quality (and editing) of the ADR is laid bare. Doesn't excuse the jarring effect, but, as I said, it is what it is.

Well there are plenty of other films from 1977 that can provide a reference point. Close Encounters, for one.

I want the originals released too, but it has nothing to do with 1977.

No I'm certainly not buying this and I'm insulted I was even considered I was actually going to purchase this rubbish.
Last post of mine in anymore Star Wars threads. I'm wasting my damn time.
Yes, but even though you call them "extremely mediocre", you cannot force your opinions on other people. Nobody can, which is why a topic like Star Wars inevitably leads to huge arguments

The blu-ray box set of the star wars saga will sell well because it's the biggest release in the history of the blu-ray format. If you don't like it then don't buy it's that simple. And another thing their are a lot of star wars fans that complain about things these days like the ewoks in ROTJ , the prequel films , the special editions of the original trilogy , the clone wars tv series etc. If you don't like theses things about star wars I am not saying your not a fan I am saying you need to reassess your membership to the club. Because haters posing as fans is very dangerous. Star Wars is forever and always will be.

Dangerous how? This is interesting to me.

How can you discern whether someone is a hater as opposed to a fan with legitimate concerns?

Because haters who pick on star wars complain about everything. Why they complain about some things when it comes to star wars I will never understand. We should enjoy star wars and everything about it insted of complaining about it on blogs and forums like this one. Star Wars is forever and always will be.

How boring would discussions be if everyone agreed on everything. I think some of you don't understand the concept of forums like these. What world do you live in where everything is immune from criticism? I like hearing differing viewpoints and if you believe someone is wrong and wish to engage them in a respectful debate, do so. If you don't like someone's viewpoint and don't with to engage them in a debate, ignore their comments. It's that simple. Complaining about complaining literally adds nothing of value to the discussion.
