If I had Amazon prime maybe Id think differently but Ill just hit BB that morning and be good with it.

And, I have an Amazon Chase card that collects points like some of you but I also have a BB rewards card that collects points. Either way, I win, I guess.
I always order from amazon. Unless I get a coupon then I go to the store. But amazon has no tax so thats a big plus. I also have Amazon Prime.

Joking.
But in all seriousness, am I the only person on this thread that prefers the puppet Yoda over the digital?
I did until I happened to see a piece of Episode 1 in an electronics store when it played on an HD cable channel recently. And with the increased resolution, the problem is that Yoda was no longer believable as a living thing because he looked like a puppet and you could see the rubber. So it might be that at least for Ep 1, CGI might actually be the way to go.

I agree.

I actually prefer the ESB/ROTJ puppet to the CGI Yoda in AOTC and ROTS. On the other hand, the TPM puppet is terrible and needs to be replaced with the CGI Yoda, not only for consistency but also for the sheer awfulness of it.

You've never seen it home ?

SpikeHD has only played it like 1138 times already.

I realize this probably has been asked and answered before, but since the thread is now 779 pages long, I really don't have the time to read it all, so, can anyone confirm or deny if the Blu-rays contain both special editions (1997 & 2004)?

Thank you in advance.

During an interview with a Norwegian home cinema publication, Vincent Marcais, Senior Vice President Marketing at Twentieth Century Fox International in Europe, answered our questions about the studio's Blu-ray plans, including the upcoming release of the Star Wars films [..].

The remastering of the movies has been performed by Lucasfilm and will offer "the most recently updated versions of the movies," with "even more enhancements to the picture quality." When asked about Fox's answer to the fans that want to see the three original versions released, Marcais replied: "The versions that are being released are closest to George Lucas' vision. Other than that, no comment."

That's all we have for now. But my guess is that there will only be one version that is a new 2011 edition with more enhancements.

Me! I've decided to see if Costco has it as their boxset prices are usually far cheaper then retailers. If that doesn't work out then I'll walk into any one of the thousand retailers who will have it on release day and buy.

I am honestly interested to see what is changed in all six films. The OT Special Editions really need work anyway-- that 1997 cgi desperately needs to be redone. If the versions really are improvements from the 2004 versions, I may still be tempted to get the box set.

But seriously, who wants to bet how many more times Lucas will change the films before he dies? I'm gonna say three. Three more times.

So I finally got around to watching ESB yesterday and it was head and shoulders above ANH. For watching these movies for the first time ever, I thought ANH was pretty meh, but ESB was an above average film. Everything in ANH was done better in ESB. The acting was better (though there were still cheesy moments), the lightsaber duels had SO much more fire to them (and actual choreography), the set pieces were more epic and Vader felt more like the ultimate villain rather than just a bad guy with a crazy costume.

I hope ROTJ keeps the momentum going.

It sure is coming fast. Summer is only going to help speed things along. Sept will be here in no time.

Hereīs a link to the Trailer for the upcoming Staw Wars: Blueprints book:
http://www.theblueprintsbook.com/the-trailer/
The clip shows very short movie moments which might be taken from the blu-ray master. At the end there is short clip of Yoda saying "more has been revealed" which I donīt think Iīve seen before... Iīm not sure though.

One thing I do know is that watching anything Star Wars these days has me so excited. This upcoming BD release has me feeling like it's a new film being released all over again. Can't wait.

Hopefully those clips aren't from the Blu-ray master, as i've compared them to the 2004 DVD and they're the same colours.

Just another couple of thing...

Amazon.com has updated their products pages for these Blu-rays (in the form of a table) The Complete Saga now has a '16 page booklet', but the PT and OT still only have 3-discs.

Also... One reviewer made posted on the OT set with the following:

"This is straight from the PR folks at Lucasfilm:

The Blu-ray discs will feature the 1997, 2000, and 2003 versions of the film, with additional edits made by the filmmaker. There is now one definitive version of the films thanks to technological advances, which have made it possible to achieve the visual effects the filmmaker originally intended. This will be the version released on Blu-ray
"

If this is true, it means a branching facility is being placed on the discs so that the appropriate edits can be viewed depending on the version. Personally, I think this is 'some' great news as it means we some kind of choice. If I had to pick between the 1997 and 2003/4 edits, then obviously i'd go for 1997. No more Hayden for me!

On the downside, it means that if they're sticking to the 2003 version of the film as being the most up to date, then we'll equally have the same awful colour timing.

If that info is legit it is really great that they really updated the movies to meet todays standards. Itīs really good news and Iīm very excited!

I donīt think that the temporary versions are included. I think what they meant by that is that it will feature the special editions (like in 1997 ,2000 and 2004) as oposed to the theatrical editions.
