It shouldn't be that high and by comparison a friend of mine had a print by Josh Keyes "Stampede" which is huge in size at "22 x 48" framed using all archival methods and even had 2 mats and museum glass and only was charged around $500. That job isn't much higher than what they was wanting for that Captain America of yours which should be much easier to frame at 24 x 36. I know most framers will give you a discount but i guess that would vary depending on where you get it done at. The price they quoted you sounds more like a Micheal's price, i'm not sure what type of materials you was going for but the frame and glass are always the highest parts of the frame job..maybe going with some UV plexi or something like that would help reduce the cost? My first frame shop experience was pretty bad i remember the framer asking me if i wanted to drymount my Ansin Mummy print.

Any word on the Resident Evil:Retribution poster? I saw this one posted online a while back. I am really hopeing this is not the real one. I like the whole logo in the water but the rest of it kind of sucks. I still need to find the first two resident evil posters.

Yeah and they are $10,000 each too...man I am racking up the $$$$$ with you. LOL! Actually I don't know poster wise if that is a poster, it looks like it is a teaser, I actually think it is nice, but I have never see any of the films. I will check to see if I have anything, I don't know why but I think I have this one somewhere in my inventory:

Grr. I already own that one. Sad they only used that poster. I always love when they make teasers and final posters that are different. The movies are okay, but I am a huge huge fan of Milla Jovovich.

Ordered the Prometheus poster on ebay, $30... I said I was done with collecting but I couldn't help it this time.

the only other posters I really want this year are The Avengers and Frankenweenie... and maybe Dark Shadows but I don't know, every time I see Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins, I chuckle... just seems so awkward to me.

There just isn't much competition where I live unfortunately. The molding and the UV filtering glass were almost $270 for those parts alone. They offered acrylic but that was even more than glass. There is another shop about 20 miles away I may try, but I'm pretty discouraged at the moment.

And no one is ever trimming or dry mounting this piece, that's a fact!!

I'm not sure where you are at but do you have a Hobby Lobby around you anywhere? They have coupons but unlike Michael's they don't run up the tab just to bring the price after coupon back down to average retail price of a frame job. I have a few around here and maybe two frame shops but one is pretty bad and the other is far out from where i live so it is very hard to find a good frame shop and i understand your dilemma. Good luck and i hope you find something within reason and we get to see your frame job on that Stout.

You can always order a frame online, I used Craig Frames on Amazon for all the newspaper prints in my gallery, they're nice simple and solid frames for the price, a 24x36 will probably set you back 50-60 bucks shipped.

I've never really seen the upside to the "professional" framing outside of the archival reasons if you're never going to remove it, but we're not talking about classical works of art here in the poster thread. Don't get me wrong some professional frame jobs look great but I have never been able to justify the price when it's usually more than the poster is worth.

I was just at Hobby Lobby this weekend. Takes me around 45 minutes to get there but worth the trip.

If you're framing any 24x36 and want to go the cheap route with no mats you can get a good deal. I grabbed this for my Thing poster as a temporary solution but may end up keeping it in something like it:

24x36 Standard poster frame off the shelf $49.99 take 50% off
24x36 Conservation UV glass around $45 take 40% off with coupon
Acid Free backboard - around $8
The guy that did all the work threw in spacers for free. Stupid me got the more shallow frame by accident so they wouldn't fit but I know for next time.

Out the door for $55. Not bad. I'm digging it in the plain frame and may just end up sticking with it.

Oh and they also have museum glass which is NIIIIIICE. That's about double the cost of the Conservation and you can still use the 40% coupon.

There is a hobby lobby about an hour away. I may check into this. Could the spacers mess the print up at all w/o a mat?

Cool an hour's not too bad. Make it on a day off and do some other shopping around it.

You use spacers when you don't use a mat to keep the poster off the glass. There's a bunch of info on it over @ expressobeans. I've also read and I think Kinsella mentioned this that acrylic is better if you're having the print against the glass because it doesn't hold in moisture or something along those lines. Hollywood poster frames (reputable spot) uses a nice acrylic and says spacers are a waste since they only hold the print off at the edges. Lots of info out there and different routes to go.

I'm lucky my room is insanely dry. My stuff is in the same spot I keep my 2 Uromastyx and Leopard Gecko. Ambient room temps are consistently 75% and 0% humidity. Lol

Museum glass really is super nice and Hobby Lobby will cut it for you even if you don't get a frame job done there. I use them for almost everything and i had a few 8 x 10 pieces cut for $10 each and they always have weekly coupons which greatly reduces the cost just make sure to sign up for the newsletter to get them each week.

No i have spacers in my Ansin Mummy print and took it out after a few months to clean the inside of the glass and i didn't see any indication of marks from them on the print.

The print is currently in a frame hollywoodposterframe.com frame, but I thought the print shouldn't touch the acrylic, but if it can I may just keep what I have in that case. That was my main reason for changing frames was to keep it from touching the acrylic long term, as I've let the print just remain in there loosely. I may have less of an issue than I originally thought.

Yep, according to them you're good to go:

They mention warping due to spacers and I have yet to hear anyone say they encountered that. Looks like technique's print was fine too.

Who knows who's right? I am 100% aure thumbtacks are bad though.

That's true about who knows who's right. Read one thing in one place, and different thing in another. Definitely no thumbtacks!

What about Scotch-tape rolled up and put on the backside in the corners? That's ok right?
