Cause the whole point of me setting up that tiny hallway was to give it that cinema feel. Would love to know what you think cause I just got two movie poster grails of mine.

Probably one of the most popular and sought after of godzilla poster. And another poster of the movie orochi which surprisingly had quite a few bids on it.

This is how it looks now:

When deciding if I should put 'em in, keep in mind the japanese posters are one sided and probably won't look as good as the thor and independence day with the backlight on.

For those of you who think I should put up the posters, how do you reckon I should arrange them? (I won't change the current spot of the green one)
Should I
1) Put the other godzilla at the other end (where thor is)?
2) Or put it in the middle?

Thank you so much in advance!
I love those frames. Where did you get them?

Scott Pilgrim is fantastic as a film and even better as OG. This is the Nega Misprint variant.
Beautiful prints and excellent framing too! That Jock Batman piece is really cool, he is going to be here the end of March, I am going to try and see if he is doing any sketches that day and add one from him at least for sure to my collection.

Ruthless, you got an amazing collection there! Congrats!

Django, Star Wars, Reservoir Dogs and an Inglourious are all on my list still Blade Runner too!

I managed to land Englert's new release today. Super pumped to have that side by side with the Blackwater print

The wait was painful...So many refunds!

Of the 150 Englert's, they pre-sold 115 of them today, which is a much higher number than I thought and based on what I have read, more than what the gallery wanted to sell today too. Mark gets his copies, and it's been reported only 10 copies will be available for tomorrow night's opening. There may be a black paper variant for sale at the gallery, I guess it was a glow in the dark test run on black paper just of the glow in the dark aspect, some one had posted online that he thought they made five for sale for tomorrow, but that is just rumor.

Handbill was limited to 50 numbered pieces, 25 going to the artist with his 25 prints, the rest were available only at the gallery event this evening in Seattle. The gallery only had 9 prints for sale, each print purchaser received the handbill, the rest they gave out to others who weren't able to get a print.

Also from what I heard there was a black paper variant of the print, but it was basically just the glow-in-the-dark aspect printed on black paper. Rumor was there were five made, artist getting three, gallery pre-sold one, and they had one on display for the event, which I believe sold as well to the first person in line.

I just found this thread browsing around the home theater forum last night. I had never heard of artists making movie posters. After seeing Horkey, and Englert i know i have to have examples of both. My question is, since i'll have to buy on the secondary market (ebay) do these prints come with some sort of certificate of authenticity? Are there ways to easily detect that what's available for sale online isn't a reproduction?

Separate unrelated question, have any of these artists done Blade Runner?

Most do not come with an certificate of authenticity. Most of the time the ones found on ebay are the real deal but there are some repos out there, but mostly with the bigger named artist like Tyler Stout. There are a bunch of Blade Runner prints on the market by different artist. A good source for all of this is to go over to expresso beans and sign up for an account and do a lot of research. One last thing is this hobby can get very expensive especially if you start to collect Horkey.

They aren't technically "movie posters" they are limited edition "screen prints", or in the case of some artists, referred to as "prints" or "lithographs". Certificates of authenticity as Guinness mentioned aren't made for them generally, I can't recall any that came with one. The most well known site is Mondo, but there are others. They are artist interpretations in most cases of movie posters but the majority are hand-pulled screen prints, generally printed by a company called D&L Screenprinting in Seattle, but Mondo uses other screenprinting companies too, but D&L is one of the more widely known and do some of the best work out there.

These prints aren't the ones you see in theaters, which you probably know that already. Mondo obtains a license to produce, contracts with an artist who does the work and then Mondo offers them up for sale, sometimes at a screening of the film first generally in Austin Texas (or during a mystery screening event, sometimes outside of Texas) and then any extra copies they will offer online for sale at a random time on a given day. In most cases, depending on the artist, prints can sell out in about five seconds, or sometimes it takes a few minutes. Depending on the artist, the print run can vary from 100 to just under 1000. Sometimes there are "timed" editions produced whereas you are given a 24-hour period, or 72-hour period to order, so more people can get one, and the edition size is based on how many orders come in, but I believe Mondo has only done a timed edition release twice (Dark Knight by Olly Moss and Man of Steel by Martin Ansin).

Regarding Blade Runner, there have been artist interpretations of that film and as Guinness also pointed out, a good site dedicated to these limited edition prints is expressobeans.com. Type in Blade Runner in the search box and you will see the prints that have been offered by artists for that film.

Remember though, while Mondo is the most widely known there are other artists who just as talented as the ones who do work for Mondo who sometimes produce prints/lithographs and who have done Blade Runner too. Yes, this can be an expensive hobby especially if you have to turn to the secondary market for your prints, but not all prints tend to shoot up in price overnight that generally is based on the artist's popularity it seems nowadays.

Welcome to the forum too by the way...

Thanks for the welcome and all the good info. I'll check out espresso for sure. I know my way around fine arts so i know the distinction, i was just being lazy haha. After seeing Horkey's there will be blood, and Englert's Korova milk bar i knew I'd have to have em. I probably shouldn't have opened this bread.

Nice to see someone else here from Seattle in the forum, lots of good people can answer your questions about movie posters and limited edition prints, etc.

Were those images you got from the Rewards site itself or elsewhere? The reason why I ask is because those are the international versions, not the domestic versions. However the international final has the mask off Captain America, the domestic has his mask on, but the wording at the bottom doesn't say "In Cinemas Soon", that's designated for the international version. So that is why I was curious if you pulled those photos from the Disney Rewards site because if so, they must have extra international teasers and final styles to give out for points.

Interesting, so again for collectors, the first image is the international final, the second image is the international teaser advance style A, and the third image is the international teaser advance style B. Odd that they would be sending out international versions rather than domestic, but it could be that Disney Rewards is using the wrong images and in fact sending out domestic ones.

What I can tell you for those who have points saved up is any of the three styles for Captain America: Winter Soldier are VERY difficult for poster dealers to get. What you generally see on eBay are either reprints or used one-sheets, anything Disney/Marvel is incredibly hard to find.

What puzzles me though is the international final style image they are using because from what I have seen elsewhere the international finals feature Captain America without his mask on, domestic version has his mask on.

DMR also has a Frozen Bus Shelter up that I hadn't seen before... more points (2500) than I've got at my disposal but my kids would love this thing.

Why can't the Captain America Shield poster be 550

Though I've had terrible luck with ordering posters from DMR. I only ordered 2 (Ironman3 and Finding Nemo) and both showed up damaged and was sent a damaged replacement as well. They are also too big for my Flat File so they just lay on the ground. Maybe I'll do a giveaway for the folks here in/around June-July when I finish school
