I would love to get the other two as well. It would cost around $100, so i don't think it will be happening soon. I'm just happy to have gotten the one that I really wanted. It makes it easier when the wife wants the same thing you do.

I am amazed by the amount of detail original have. The joker cards that make up the fast of Batman on the Dark Knight wilding poster, actually stand out as individual cards. You can see the outline of each card when you move back and forth. I was floored when I saw that, but it was really because I thought there were creases all over the thing. One thing I found odd with it was that it is ever so slightly bigger then the rest of the posters. Maybe and 1/16 of an inch difference. I got some poster frames from Michaels because they had them at 50% off, and The Dark Knight Poster wouldn't fit into the frame. It fits in my custom frame from Hollywoodframes I bought a few years ago but not the ones from Michaels. All the others fit just fine. I'm thinking that it's because it was fro advertising purposes and not to be put in theaters. It's just a guess though.

When ever you get a chance Kinsella. I'm very happy them and will never consider getting reprints or fakes. These posters really are a work of art and I really appreciate that now.

The Sucker Punch advance one sheet arriving in US theatres now is the artwork below:

I've not seen it in the flesh yet (hopefully will be here early next week) but the image certainly looks nice

I'm told Green Lantern is expected by the end of the week but no idea of the artwork just yet..

My personal faves are those that are finished with a high gloss coating on one side. Some recent examples being Burlesque (Cher/Christina portrait shots side by side), Green Hornet (advance) and Cowboys & Aliens (advance). There are also foil based, lenticular, UV spot and holofoil - quite often given to the most unlikely of movies (Son Of The Mask and Anacondas anyone?). Best use I think I've seen is the UV coating/embossing done on the various Spider-man 3 one sheets. The gloss finish really does add a nice touch
Tha looks awesome!!

The only thing I like on the sucker punch poster is the dragon. I don't know why I am a huge fan of them.

I'm so pumped to get this TStout one in the mail and frame it up, I've totally fallen in love with his drawing style. I would absolutely LOVE to get my hands on his The Thing rendition, but last time I saw it on eBay it sold for over 1200$. Dang. I'll cross my fingers and keep hoping, lol.

I've check those links above to no avail for what I've been looking for for reprints, so I guess I'll keep looking. There is a place down in Calgary that might have what I'm looking for, so I'll check that out the next time I'm down there.
True about the metallic inks, but remember many poster collectors, mainly the newer ones, aren't aware of subtle differences and then there are those who aren't aware of the Mondo series of prints, so they see them offered on dealer sites and aren't numbered, etc they don't know any better so they go with it, and have no idea they just bought a fake.

Yes Stout is the MAN when it comes to the Alamo stuff, his Star Wars prints are amazing, and of course sold out in about 20 seconds when they were offered on December 31st. Get in line for The Thing one, I really want too, they sell between $1000 and $1500 for the standard, which I prefer over the variant.

Gantz is being put on by Fathom Events, who have been known to make a movie poster for some of their one-night only events, but generally they don't make many, usually one or two are sent to the theaters, and since it isn't seeing a wide release, chances are the production run on the poster, that is IF a poster was produced, would be incredibly small, so if they did, you won't find many out there for sale.

For example, on May 15, 2008 Fathom Events hosted a one-night one/one-screening only showing of "First Blood". It was in a small amount of theaters for one night, and one time, 7:30pm. They did make a poster for it, the theaters were given one to my knowledge. I was fortunate enough to get one, and only one of the posters, which was quite a task in itself, which featured the classic Drew Struzan painting from the original release movie poster. They were made double-sided too, if I can figure out how to add images here with my posting, I will post it, for some reason, I can never figure out the basics.

I will need to take a tape measure up to one of mine and give you measurements on it, but I believe yours is legit. Yes, at first glance it does appear to be folded but its the cards that form the image. I think the 2009 re-release style looks a tad bit crisper because it was a poster made on better stock paper and double-sided, but same imagery as you saw in the emails I sent you.

Yup, that is the advance teaser for Suckerpunch. Still no word on Green Lantern, could have been pushed back another week or so. I agree, when a studio does a poster with the UV glossy coating on the front side, it really stands now, but not every poster has that look to them, and then there are posters that have the glossy UV look and then the same poster will not have it. The advance teaser for the first Iron Man film had both glossy and non-glossy versions. The glossy though is very nice in-person, kind of has a shine to them.

I am too! There's just something about dragons that just makes you think "I wish I could fly on one of those things".

Well, I think I'm due for a change in the theatre, we've had Wall-E and Lion King up for a while now, time for a poster for dad I think I'll take Suckerpunch for the win!

I didn't even try, nothing wrong with his prices but they were a little rich for me considering I can't see myself wanting to hang 3 star wars pictures up in my theatre... I'll wait for the next release.

I wonder what it would cost to commission him to do some private work and what sort of 'rights' to images you would need to obtain to get the work done.

There is nothing wrong with Star Wars I am just a little worn out from them. I have seen the movies so many times I want nothing to do with them for a long time. I do like the posters. Congrats on all the signatures.

I applied for the lottery even though I managed to nab one on the original day, but no luck. I did get the TMNT one this morning though. Wooo.

I did however break down and buy a few older prints on eBay last night.

Martin Ansin's A Wretched Hive
Billy Perkins' Mad Max (2008)
Olly Moss' Robocop
and
Rhys Coopers Critters

I'm excited!

I mentioned in an earlier post that I had the other 2 posters from the original trilogy. Here they are:

(Had to take photo without the flash because of the silver pen, so pictures not so sharp)

Nice selection of signatures you've got there

Dare I ask how long it's taken you to collect them?

If you mean for a one-off piece that only you would own I don't think you'd have to go through any red tape (or there's ways around it). I'm sure it would cost a pretty penny though. I'm curious, what were you thinking?

Holy smokes nice pickups! I have the Critters poster and it's amazing in person. That Moss Robocop is the bees knees too. Post up some pics when you get 'em!

Well, I know I can't swing a one off, so i was thinking of something that a small run could be done to absorb the costs... I've got a couple of different things in mind, all movie related, the one I'd like to see the most being a Johnny Depp fan would be a montage of his characters, I really like Stouts work like the Iron Man 2, Inglorious Basterds even the Star Wars ones, I could see one with a wide selection of Depps characters all together. I'd be open to a lot of different things though if I got together with a group of like minded people who may be interested in fronting the upfront costs the Stout might demand.

The Empire one I started from scratch and was the only one I intended to have. A friend was selling the Jedi one with a few signatures on there already, so I bought it off him and continued with that one. So if I had those two I had to have Star Wars. I found that one in the US with the Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher signatures on there. All in all I've been going with them now for just short of a year.

According to Fathom Events they didn't do a poster for the GANTZ showing, so technically there should be no posters out there. I am trying to get them to do a screening of the recently released live-action Star Blazers film that was released in Japan back in early December.
