Bow down to me young Padawan! LOL! Yeah I suspect we will see the majority of them being offered either late this week or next, but that is my guess. I can tell you that this print will be H-U-G-E. Some fans will be excited that Mondo kept the print run down (if it was up to Mondo at all) and didn't put out thousands of them, but others will clearly be upset that they didn't have a higher print run, which would have kept the cost down.

Anyone should knew Drew Struzan is a God when it comes to poster artwork and getting him to do a print since he announced his retirement back in 2008 was a real treat. The $285 price point is probably justified when most won't see it. His original paintings are priceless fetching $50K easily. I would have to imagine Struzan will be getting a good size chunk of each print sold and he is well worth it.

I am curious how many people are in line for it already, since doors open in 30 minutes, how many people are going to be there, let alone how many will be there to get one of the prints. If they sell 75 of them tonight, that still leaves 250 left to sell online, and those will certainly sell fast, next to a Stout print, they will more than likely sell just as fast.

Good luck to everyone who tries for one when the time comes.....

On the phone with a friend who lives about 15 minutes from the New Beverly Theater, he didn't know about the screening so he jumped in his car and just arrived. Said there is a healthy line of people waiting outside, lots of people holding tubes in their hands.

As of 9:20pm my friend called me back and said that they had not sold the prints yet but someone did walk the line and hand out numbered tickets, he thinks basically one ticket per person in the line, not necessarily giving out a ticket to those who wanted to buy the print. He said ticket holder #75 is two people ahead of him so he is going to wait it out and see if not everyone is there to buy a print.

Also Technique, this technically was not a Mondo Mystery Movie, this was just a special screening, and while the Mystery Movie prints are never sold elsewhere other than the screening themselves, the extra Frankenstein prints WILL be sold online. So far there have been two Mondo Mystery Movie events, both in Austin Texas, the first being Akira earlier this year followed by Jurassic Park a few weeks ago.

Mondo Mystery Movie #3 , #4, and #5 are scheduled for early October in Los Angeles at the same New Beverly Theater, two screenings per day for three days for a total of six films and SIX different prints. What they are is anyone's guess, but something tells me that since the theater I believe is owned by Q. Tarantino, that one of those films may be for one of his movies. Just a big guess on my part naturally. Tickets for this go on sale tomorrow I believe as well.

While there is no denying that would be huge, I can't imagine Mondo would offer up another Stout for a Mystery Movie event. I mean, anything is possible but since there is a good chunk of artists that they use, and Stout was used for the first one, I would think they would be having other artists lined up for these six upcoming releases. I am curious as to what they are, as is everyone else, but I believe the theater is owned by QT, would not surprise me if one of the films would be a QT one, maybe Pulp, or Reservoir Dogs, etc.

I recently got a "The Captains" by William Shatner poster from SDCC. It's the one with the foil lettering. One of the sellers on the auction site claim there were only 100 of these made. Does anyone have any info on this? I can't seem to find anything about it. Thanks in advance.

I went in to Michael's today for some 27 x 40 frames and all they had were the cheap Trendsetter ones. I thought they had more upscale frames than that. I sort of wanted something with glass. Bummer!

Honestly man, I don't even recall. I was dejected that they didn't have any upscale 27 x 40 frames.

Michael's frames from what I have heard aren't the greatest but a lot of people like them. Also Aaron Brothers Framing has frames as well, but remember to check your Sunday newspaper's ads section as there are generally coupons for both of them. Not every week, but every once in a while, generally once a month at least.

Thanks Jon, I'm wondering what people thought of this eBay seller. Their poster frames use UV protected plexiglass with PH neutral foamcore backing. You can buy multiples and save. Looks like a good alternative to protecting posters at a fraction of the cost of custom framing.

I dont have any opinion of them, some people prefer plexiglass over standard glass, and UV protection is always good. So basically their price is $65 shipped for one. PH neutral foam core backing....hmm, you may want to find out if that is acid-free backing or a hybrid of it.

The retail is $39.99 for the Trendsetters. They are frequently on sale at 50% off. You can also watch the Sunday paper as Kinsella5 said, each week there is a 40% off coupon for any one non-sale item. Every once in awile, holiday weekends I think, they include an additional 25% off any item including sale items. For custom framing I recently saw a 50% off coupon plus a 25% off coupon, both were applicable to custom framing orders. Good luck.

Interesting they say "are far less acidic" but then say "acid-free" later on in the description. From what I was told smooth and white/shiny are acidic, rough feel to the touch and off-white (cream) is acid-free. Still perhaps theirs are acid-free but go about the process a different way. In the end it's better than cardboard. But you may want to price out for comparison what it would cost to have the same materials used by a local professional framer in your area to do as opposed to ordering from this company or others.

I may be away from the forum for a few days, I have to fly out in the morning to San Francisco, and then driving back up to Seattle on Saturday/Sunday. Not a big fan of flying so quite nervous, but I will take my laptop with me as the flight has WiFi I believe, maybe getting online will take my mind off things. Right now its kind of a dead time for movie posters meaning nothing really big and exciting out there, but holiday film styles should start appearing soon and then come this holiday season we should probably see some advance teasers for some of the bigger 2012 releases.
