That’s a real nice picture. Problem is that people watch the caps and Blu on monitors/TVs with way too cool of a color temperature. It doesn’t capture the yellowish warmth that projection has and this warmth makes the teal slightly greenish. And then the same crowd complains that everything is too teal.
https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...=48604&i=6&l=0 This capture is very faithful to how Aliens looks like on film. And if I set my monitor to max warmth and max contrast, it looks spot on. |

It’s like setting up a phono cartridge. 10 professionals using accurate tools will result in 10 different sounding turntables. Last edited by Noremac Mij; 11-09-2018 at 11:46 PM. |

Default "movie modes" tend to be relatively accurate now-a-days. Not a substitute for pro-calibration usually, but solid enough to comment on color and whatnot. That's assuming they use the proper warm setting though, which even on this forum many do not.
I do think many teal complaints are exaggerated by people using cool settings who were used to the DVD era's magenta push compensating for that somewhat. |

Ive never seen a warm color setting on a TV that looked good to me. They look too...idk sepia or brown to me. Whites dont look like whites. So I always set the tv to the standard or neutral color temp. I've seen many projected films and they didnt look like any tv with warm color temps. And besides a lot of modern films are shot on digital and are being played at home in a digital format with no projector involved. The look of a projector shouldnt matter at home unless youre using an actual projector at home.

BTW cool colour temp actually makes these 'tealed' discs look much more normally blue rather than pushing them further into the teal-light zone: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...8#post13954828 |

I do the color temp preference thing on my Plasma. Not sure it won't be similar on my incoming setup of OLED C8... which will be getting pro-calibrated for sure.
I'll do each title the justice of watching accurately (or rather as intended) once, likely first? But after that further demoing may reveal a preference for some |

Oh jeez, not that "article" again. While it's annoying that useless piece of misinformation still gets shared, at least I know some people will read it, realize that these teal raving whackjobs aren't worth taking seriously, and will be encouraged to look at things from a more sensible standpoint.

Yeah I've read a lot in general about Samsung's quality taking a dive after 2016, in all sorts of ways. Which is a real shame since they sell so well.

Given some of the shenanigans they've pulled over the last couple of years, it's hard to argue with that.

Well in 2016 they had one of the top five HDR televisions, and it was under $1500, so that was a pretty good reason. I don't care about brands, I care about individual item quality. If I were to buy a TV today I would obviously make a different choice.
