All the media outlets don't say the same thing,

But Home Media magazine using Nielson numbers says about 115k. Go to Page 28, bottom of the first paragraph of the "Blu-ray has edge despite paramount move" article:

This just in from engadget!!

This shows my point that the public "perception" is that Spidey 3 didn't live up to the hype in blu sales. UNLESS, sony is waiting until the numbers come out tommorrow to spin the box sales somehow???
That articls says

Sure, 135k copies in one week (not including those bundled with the PS3 or the box set) isn't anything to scuff at...
So they are also saying that those numbers aren't including the box set numbers.

I'd be willing to accept that TF sold over 90k everywhere except Walmart and made it to 115k, including Walmart....

What??? Don't get me wrong, this last week Walmart probably has sold a disproportionate amount of HDM units, but with BB reporting to Nielsen (and having the largest percentage of HDM sales) the Nielsen numbers are still not going to be far off. You really need to take an introductory stats course.

Furthermore, outside of your a$$, where are you pulling the number 75k for TF the last 10 days? The attach rate of TF to $98 A2s is unknown, and probably dependent on how many purchasers were new users (as opposed to people upgrading or getting their first standalone after a 360 addon).

Parmount got realtime numbers direct from everyone of the companies they distribute too.
Realtime? You think the have a little software program that is constantly tallying up sales every time someone rings one up??? Several of these companies, including Walmart, don't release their numbers. By what possible means would Paramount (or anyone else) get this data? If it existed, don't you think the Nielsen numbers would be superfluous? Do you think it's all some sort of conspiracy?

Based on your impressive first three posts I'm going to have to side with people who are calling "troll".

they don't count box sets with single movies sold...and all the promo's that offered SM3 with a BD player or the 40GB PS3 don't count either....

Oh, jeez. It's "scoff," not "scuff." And Casino Royale has an 'E' on the end. Who is this Ben Drawbaugh? I hope the box set handily outsells the single-disc SM3.

(edit: referencing the engadget article cited above)

But you know what, many in the media are still quoting that 190,000 copies sold even if it is highly inaccurate. I still don't believe it, and you may not believe it, but when the media going on about HD DVD saying Transformers sold 190,000 copies it is going to be what the general public hears and believes. Even Engaget is still quoting that amount even though most other outlets aren't of course they must be HD DVD fanboys.

I am in total agreement, I was just stating that some other site besides this one is saying that number represents solely Spiderman 3 single disc sells.

I don't know what numbers you are hearing....the fact that the original numbers listed by Paramount have been corrected by other reliable sources and they haven't come out to clear the air only answers my question for me...

Have you ever seen "Debbie Downer"? You remind me of her! I'm not saying that as an insult, just that we get this good news that not only does "Spider-Man 3" become one of the best selling titles on Blu-ray, but beats the first week sales for "Transformers" in six days, and yet you're telling us it could be better?!

You post a link to a website that is factually inaccurate by still claiming that DreamWorks sold 190 thousand of "Transformers" even though all evidence points to the contrary.

I consider myself somewhat pessimistic, as I too am concerned about $99 HD DVD players, and I'm somewhat concerned as to how sells will go for Warner's "Ocean" releases next week and the HP movies next month with HD DVD having fewer releases than Blu-ray, meaning that HD DVD owners could have more money to purchase these Warner Bros. releases.

That being said, there is a resemblance to "Debbie Downer", and those of us who used to post on AVSForum.com are way too used to having those kind of posts being WAY TOO prevalent whenever good news came around for Blu-Ray.

Yeah I know and that drives me nuts...well, more nuts.

There is nothing reliable saying that TF beat Spiderman. Assuming tomorrows Nielsen numbers match Sony's press release (which I would bet money on) then the only statisitically valid numbers are 110k for TF and 130k for SM3.

That's a clear win for SM3, since many people bought the boxset instead of SM3, and on regualr DVD Transformers has outsold SM3 by something insane (like 3:1 I've heard).

Dude, I'm sorry but with your choice of words you sound a lot more than just "pessimistic" or wanting to play "devil's advocate". To me you sound very much like a troll who is trying (not very successfully) to be "transparent". You do know that even though AVS is down, there is a parallel HD-DVD site you could go to. I don't go to that site, and I understand it doesn't have nearly the traffic that this site has, but I imagine you would be among friends of like mind over there. And, while I could be wrong, I suspect that it does not suffer from repeated attacks from Blu-ray fans. I would hope that Blu-ray fans from this site would not go over there repeatedly to troll and annoy HD-DVD fans. They deserve a place of their own just as we Blu-ray fans deserve our place.

bottom line is we don't know what to believe is the number of discs sold to end users for Transformers,. we're pretty certain the 190k is incorrect, but whether it is 90k, 115k, or somewhere between 135k to 150k we're sure on. if SM3 w/o counting the box set beats TF, HD DUD (first time i used this term hehe) has nothing left minus breaking the bank to try to bribe Warner to their side.
