That is the angle i see them playing most often lately. they are a tricky group. Smart you caught that, great post.

Never mind that the format is inferior in just about every way, if it takes down the "evil giant" Sony, they're all for it.
I definitely agree. Almost every argument I've heard labels Sony as Blu-ray, and that even taking into account the other 90% or so of CE support. It's ironic that people care more about their attempt to take down Sony than they do of the quality of Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD.

Then they try to argue that more space is a bad thing? At least give me a rational argument.

It's society 101, if you're big (i.e. successful) and well-known, people want to see you fail. It's completely foolish that Sony is attacked for doing what it's suppose to...business.

Could you believe Sony, offering quality products while trying to make a profit. I know, they should be ashamed.

Like I said, for many HD DVD fanboys, Blu-ray vs HD DVD is on a personal level. As others mentioned, to them, it's more about being anti-Sony than pro-HD DVD.

Exactly. I've seen countless HD DVD fanboys yell about how the space isn't needed or try to turn it into a negative. Then, once the discussion is about possible upcoming TL-51 discs for HD DVD, the same fanatics yell "Take that blu boys! We got space too."

Blu-ray on a technical level is the superior format. Other factors will determine the outcome of this battle, but if one isn't able to at least admit Blu-ray's technical superiority, they are too far gone for rational discussion.

The hardcore fanboys will defend anything, those in touch with reality will at least admit they need to add Blu-ray to their HD-DVD player, which of course will massively boost Blu-rays market share.

Hey.....I'm civil....lol......but I'm also mostly Blu now.......Picked up Mr. Brooks(BLU) in a Target in Phillipsburg, NJ. 10 Blu racks and 5 Red racks. No Sopranos in either format but on SD DVD. They had Halloween for $19.99 in Blu and Goodfellas for the same price in red. Those were the best deals. Both had Planet Earth for $84.99 and Blu had Smallville season 6 for $64.99.

Most hd-dvd supporters have alot more invested in the situation. Myself I got the ps3. I have enjoyed watching blu ray now, and even if HD somehow won out, I still have a usefull peice of hardware.

The 360's addon doesn't realy work the same way, since it has no other use and is a hefty chunk of change.

All you can do with dedicated players in the end is throw them in the nearest dumpster unfortunately.

I've even seen one guy result to "It doesn't matter, high-def media only accounts for 3% of movie sales".

I think most of the HD-DVD fans are stuck in stage 1, big time.

Has anyone else read that Cnet article titled: Am I the only one who no longer cares about the format war? I read it and it looks like the author was a former HD DVD fan, but now with the Transformers week, he has given up.

How long have we ALL heard that movie downloads are the future? 5 years+ & still nothing, because it still takes forever to download a HD movie with HD audio.

That dumb ass 'Usualsuspect87' paid $65 for 2 hddvd movies.

Is this similar to the PS3s pricing strategy, initial lack of games, failed quick death blow to HD DVD?

I think it is. Not to stir up trouble but here's my take on it.

1: denial
- impossible, why would Sony drop the price on the PS3? it's the greatest system in the world being able to play the greatest movie format in the world.

2: anger
- why can't PS3 and BD win yet? BDA has said HD DVD is dead 5 times already. Para/DW has to be paid for exclusivity (and I'll forget about BDA paying off WB/Para/DW/etc to go neutral as well as Fox/Disney/etc to go proBD). PS3 IS THE #1 GAMING AND MOVIE PLAYBACK DEVICE THIS MILENIUM WHY CAN'T PEOPLE SEE THAT?!

3: Bargaining
- 2 x $100 price drops on the PS3 within the launch year due to lack luster sales.

4: Depression
-why hasn't HD DVD died for the 5th time by now? why hasn't PS3 passed 360 or Wii yet? why can't PS3 pump out more quality titles? I can only play the select handful so many times. I can only watch the same BDs so many times. I refuse to go neutral and get those movies i want that are on HD DVD as well as those games that are exclusive to 360

5: acceptance
- as long as more people will get into PS3 and BD, I'm all for it. I don't care if the PS3 was stripped down and no longer offers all that Sony promised, nor do I care that I paid more, nor do I care that the handful of good games just got a tad bigger, nor do I care that I can't watch Transformers in HD because it doesn't have lossless that my 19" SD TV would output.

Another hd dvd replicant. There's a lot of faulty programing in this one.
