I've been trying to stay away from the movies now that the blu ray release is so near. I'm going to watch the Clone Wars blu's I have but haven't finished and just keep reading the books. The Old Republic books that are supposed to be in the time of the new online game that is coming out are real good, just finished Fatal Aliance. Give it a 4.5/5 rating.

In other Star Wars BLU RAY related news, I went to Star Wars In Concert at the Hollywood Bowl yesterday and they had a postcard with an ad for the Complete Saga Blu Ray. The discs themselves were shown in the ad and let me tell you they were HIGHLY disappointing. NO ARTWORK on the discs, what-so-ever. Just the name of the movie and its corresponding roman numeral in a light blue. This could just be temporary because the disc art hasn't been finalized, but we'll see. When I have access to a scanner I will scan it unless someone else beats me to the punch.

How was the concert? Was it cool?

Simply awesome. My major critique would be that they had too much spoken dialogue from the movies during the concert. The music by itself is powerful enough without having to be supplemented by quotes, IMO. But all and all, it was wonderful. The montages intercutting between all six films made it feel like one saga, not two different trilogies. I am more excited than ever for the Blu Rays.

I want that in the BD release.
That would be great! I certainly hope Lucas hasnīt made up his mind in the way Spielberg did and rejects digital corrections completely.

So basically we're only allowed to discuss Blu-Ray specs like picture quality, audio and bonus features, but actually talking about the movies themselves is considered off-topic?
I couldnīt agree more! It must be allowed to talk about the films and state oneīs opinion about it... And please, donīt just leave the Anti-Lucas, Anti-Prequel mass-opinions in the tread.

Gosh, you don't know how lucky you are! I am afraid they will never come to anywhere close to me.

I don't think so, as George and Steve have always had very different viewpoints when it came to cinema, and it's the same now.
Steve refuses to shoot digital whereas George even wanted IJ 4 to be shot digitally.
Steve is much more of an old-fashioned guy in that regard, although he is fascinated by the new tools, and does use them to some degree or another (A.I., Minority Report, WOTW...), or simply listen to his interviews on the Minority Report bonus disc, where he goes on and on about George's AOTC, and how amazing the digital backlot is....)
George pushes the envelope whenever, and wherever possible.

George has his own opinion, and the upcoming BD set will reflect that beautifully, I am sure.

I don't think that's going to happen.

So far I've only been able to bring the blood of nine virgins to my Dark Lord (Diane Sawyer, in case anybody's wondering - you wouldn't think it to look at her but girl's got dark game).

after reading the interview with Steven about the upcoming Jaws blu ray and especially the piece about altering, removing lines etc...in this digital age..leave them in,dont alter annything now cause one can...he deserves my respect as a fan,and i'm verry happy and i'm sure millions of others about that statement!
wake up George....i still and will not buy your "modified" set wich isn't a "compleet" saga this way now is it?

Indeed, this is not the "compleet" saga.

Just watched The History Channel special "The Legacy Revealed" and this absolutely should have been on there instead of one of those stupid documentaries. It's much more of a tribute than a "fan" or "pop culture" documentary.

I'm still holding out hope that the Empire documentary (even though I'm not a fan) will be on the OT bonus disc. We still have no idea what will be on that.

I totally agree! "Legacy revealed" is a great documentary and really deals with the movies. I was sure it was included in the Blu-ray Box-Set until I read about the stupid Fan and Spoof docs.

Here comes the solution... Donīt buy it if you donīt like Star Wars. It is of course Spielbergīs decision whether he wants his movies altered when they are being released on Blu-ray. I think every director has to decide for himself how he wants to see his films released. Lucas is not Spielberg.

My personal opinion is that I donīt want to see every movie altered when it comes out. In case of Jaws Iīd prefer the theatrical version. In case of ET I canīt imagine ever watching the theatrical version ever again after having seen the Special Edition. The same goes for Star Wars.

thinking.....Hmmmmm..........I started to ask why would anyone care what the discs look like?.. But... I suppose that might be important to someone.. although I am not sure why.

Wrong solution.

Release both and everyone is happy.

Right solution.

Just because YOU think the SE's are better doesn't mean the majority do. Give people the option.

You mean this hasn't been discussed to death yet? What a surprise!

You know the first Star Wars film was released 34 years ago. I'm starting to wonder how many of the people who are insisting on the original editions actually ever saw them. If one was ten years old at the time, you'd likely remember the film, but not necessarily all the little specifics of each special effect or even Han shooting first. If one was at least 15 at the time, you might remember more, but that would make you at least 49. It's time to not care so much.

Personally, I couldn't care less either way. If the set is released and it looks and sounds terrific, I'll probably buy it when there's even further price drops. If it doesn't, I won't. No big deal either way. There's 100 years of other great movies to watch.

One doesn't need to have been alive back when Star Wars first came out:

OK... what if the upcoming blu-ray editions have actually been enhanced more and all images look perfect. Imagine perfect sabers, perfect colors, maybe Han shooting first (for the first time actually visible), maybe the old Jabba song with new perfect CGI, perfect Alderaan explosion etc ... in other words: a perfect new Special Edition.

What would be so bad about it? I do not get it!
