Wipe out any inperfection in the face that makes her anything less than perfect. It's as plain as day in that shot. How sad.

I kinda like the '97 Special Editions too, but I like the original versions the best (even though I saw them after I saw the '97 Special Editions). It's kinda sad that these Special Editions only exists on VHS. I mean every other version is available on DVD except for the '97 Special Edition.
I wish he would release the '97 Special Editions. I have no problem with the added scenes and the "brush-up" work on the special effects. My big issue is the way he felt the need to replace Sebastian Shaw who originated the role of Anakin in RotJ with Hayden Christensen at the end when Luke sees the force ghost of Anakin, Ben and Yoda.

With that being said, I guess I should admit that I decided to swollow my pride and pre-ordered both the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy (I like episode 1 and I think the pod race will sound awesome on Blu-ray) in their seperate packages because I like the cases better then the saga box and it was about $10.00 cheaper.

You know that the special features only come in the complete saga set, right?

With that in mind it's interesting to hear the perspective of people who saw the PT movies first, then went back to see what the fuss was all about, and still liked the originals better.

It's not to say that it's the norm, but it's definitely cool to see that it's not JUST my rose-tinted glasses making me love the OT more than the PT... there are others who've had a completely different introduction to the SW universe and have still come to the same conclusion as I have.

+1
Well I still saw the OT ( Special edition VHS set) first when I was around 6 however when TPM came out I thought it was the best Star Wars.

I believe after viewing Sith my ranking was RotS, RotJ, TPM, ESB, ANH and then AotC. I can say this, After watching each prequel including AotC ( which I now almost dread) for the first time I was left in awe. I predict the feeling kids felt growing up with the OT. Everytime I watch TPM and RotS I am transported back to the time when I first saw them. Bad script writing and acting defeated my rose-tinted glasses for AotC though.

The reason that ANH and ESB stand above the rest for most people in their late teens to Adult is because they are actually great films that had characters you can connect with, a great story, decent to fantastic acting and not to mention changed special effects forever, the pedigree of the films themselves outweigh the fact they are Star Wars (people seem to forget that Star Wars was nominated for Best Picture for goodness sake).

Having said that as it stands now my ranking is ESB, ANH, RotJ/TPM, RotS, AotC. So no, your rose tinted glasses are not the only thing that makes the OT better for you. I mean If I went from thinking at one point that AotC was the best Star Wars (in 2002 yes) and largely preferring the PT over the OT to I feel now I think there is more than nostalgia at play for you and the OT in general.

Anyway I am watching this order; IV, V, I, II,III,IV, V,VI.

EDIT:The only screenshot I have seen from TPM that warrants this degree of complaining is that Qui-Gon shot. The look of TPM is most likely the look that Lucas wants artistically considering it wasn't a studio but the man himself that did it. This a debate I see in every DNR argument is that if it was the original artists intention than it is okay. For instance 'was McTiernan involved on the UHE?'

As long as it looks better then the HD presentations then I am happy with them and it does look better then the HD presentations. Of course there is always room for improvement in the future but for now this Blu-ray release will do.

Target will have the saga for $79.99 and it will have all the special features. And TRU will have the OT for $29.99.

After hearing about the recall, thankfully my local Wal-Mart still had the Limited Edition DVDs for sale so that was $42 then I went ahead and ordered a used copy of the 2004 Box Set with the bonus disc for $22.

So far, $64 spent then the game plan right now is to wait a couple of years for the Complete Saga to go down to the $40 - $50 range.

I only triple dipping for the bonus features and I'm sure in 2017 or 2027, hopefully Lucas will release the UOT on Blu for the milestone anniversaries.

Posts like this make me wonder if I am looking at the same still someone else is. Even with DNR these still show a lot of details. She does NOT look wax in the least to me. Too much whining.

lmao

Found a thread on IMDB's ROTJ boards that suggest new changes for Mr. Lucas. Some are actually kind of funny.

(Ep.V) Change Darth Vader's line from 'You don't know how powerful the dark side can be.' to 'From my point of view, the Jedi are evil.' And add: 'It's over, Luke. I have the high ground.'
(Ep.V) Replace Han Solo's line 'I know.' with 'I love you even more.'
(Ep.V) Add some really cool shots of Yoda traing Luke in lightsaber battle. While we're at it, just get rid of the Yoda doll. It looks soooo fake.
(Ep.VI) Add a scene where Leia doesn't believe she is actually Luke's sister/Vader's daughter. Then have them run a Midichlorian count analysis to convince her.
(Ep.VI) Rework the 'ghost scene': Ewan McGregor replaces Sir Alec Guiness, also Ep.I Yoda will make a reappearance. Also, Qui-Gon and Palpatine will appear. Big group hug. Credits.
(Ep.VI) When Leia brings Han Solo out of Carbon-Freeze, and Han says "I can't see", have Leia respond with "that's because love has blinded you".

Exactly, she is very soft looking that is most likely due to the film itself.

i've never seen human beings with faces that have the texture of an shiny apple
this is not a grainy movie. nothing has been gained by filtering it except loss of detail and texture.

She doesn't look waxed to me either. Put up a shot of Arnold from Predator: Ultimate Hunter Edition next to her and you will see what WAXED looks like. lol

I will be watching 4-6 then 1-3 as usual. It would feel too odd to do it any other way. maybe one time I will switch it up.

To me, it makes more sense to do it 1-6.

#6 is the culmination of the whole tale, the happy ending - Anakin is saved, and Luke saves him and all is well in the universe.

Ep 3 - ends dark, and sad (but with hope of the twins making things right one day). But still, not nearly as upbeat as #6.

For me, I prefer release order: Star Wars Trilogy first, Star Wars Prequel Trilogy second.

Who on here has the order they watch it in as IV - I - V - II - VI - III? I've seen it in somebody's signature and I've always been curious.

That dude should come back and chime in.

The PT is like a supplement to the OT. I also feel better when I consider it taking place in an alternate universe of some kind.

Definitely V - IV first. First impressions matter!
