Resolution looks strong, but it looks like the color correction was done in Final Cut Pro on a tight deadline or something.

At least they fixed the shot in A New Hope where Luke's lightsaber was green.

"I can't imagine these three films looking much better than they do here."

I was pretty baffled by that statement. If Lucas restored the original theatrical cuts and didn't do any silly color "correction," they would look far better. Lots of detail has been lost for the 2004 DVD and 2011 BD.

I think the theatrical cuts on the 2006 LE DVD release look good, except of course for the resolution and being non-anamorphic.

Star Wars: COLOR COMPARISON - Theatrical vs. 2004 DVD - YouTube
And there you have it IF THEY PUT THE UOT ON BLU IT WOULD LOOK AMAZING.......And that's only if it's the UOT.

You seem to be the first person to have made such a claim. Please provide links to an example of shadow detail supposedly being lost in the Blu-ray transfer of AotC.

Hahaha first person?

That link was posted 50-100 pages ago, and the photo set is titled "teal shift". Everything is clearly much darker than it was in previous releases.

I'm not digging through 50 pages of this to find it. Someone help me out with that link?

Yes you are right about that Lucas did an interview about the 3D version of TPM and in it he said that has added scenes to it...

1)Dooku will appear in TPM and have a conversation with Jinn about the republic being corrupt and that he plans to leave the order this scene is supposed to take place on Coruscant.......

One day Lucas will admit himself because of his OCD towards Star Wars. Several revisions make no sense. The Heyden Christianson one, how would Luke even recognize him. He'd be like, get out of the cloud dude. I don't know you! I get the framing ones and such but there's a reason he didn't make Vader blurt out no originally. Can't blame that on deadlines.

I have been watching the movies themselves. When I compare the BDs to the theatrical versions (2006 LE DVD), there's no doubt that tons of detail is missing on the BDs.

Nearly all of the flaws pointed out in this video are still in the BD:

I doubt this is the fault of the transfer. This is the way George wants them to look.

Well I figure the best chance for the Unaltered Original Trilogy will be after a 3D Blu-Ray release of all six movies ending in 2018 (figure one theatrical 3D release a year starting in 2012 for the next six years). Next best chance after that is 2027 for a 50th Anniversary or when George finally dies and the estate lets it happen.

That makes very much sense because Anakin is restored to his Jedi-self before he succumbed to the dark side. The Sebastin Shaw version is more likely not to be recognized by Luke - or by Yoda and Obi-Wan for that matter... Old Anakin in Jedi-robes? That's some kind of alternate-reality version. Why isn't he burned and in Vader-Armor in spirit form? Anakin died at the end of Episode 3 and was trapped inside the Vader-persona.
