The yellow eyes appear to be(although the movies never explicitly explain this) a side effect of turning to the Dark Side. Apparently you're not stuck with that appearance since Dooku never has them and Anakin's seem to come and go. But Maul and Palpatine(post-transformation) have them and are clearly different species, so I think that's just a Dark Side trait.

BTW, on a side note, it bugged the hell out of me that Lucas relied on CGI to do the yellow eyes for Palpatine in ROTS instead of contacts. It looked really fake.

I've noticed this said a lot, it seems the Blu-ray has improved on the DVD track (as expected), but it may need a total overhaul to match the 1st 2. They may not be able to do this, or maybe they just dont want to....I dont remember ROTS in the theaters, so I cant comment on weather it is staying true to the source or not...

It's the ".1" in 5.1, 6.1, 7.1 etc. It stands for Low Frequency Effects. On almost all DVDs and BDs, there is specific information going to the sub, not just everything below a certain frequency.

There is definitely smoke coming off his face. Of course, maybe we would have similar smoke if we saw the deleted scene of Obi-wan grooming/shaving his beard with his lightsaber.

I'm not explaining anything away. I used two quotes directly from the OT that easily explain that Leia could just have had visions of her mother through the Force and misinterpreted those images as memories. I don't see how those are an awful lot of hoops. And since you're unable to point to any dialogue or events in the movies that negate the questions I posed to you, then I stand by that.

It's stated in the movies that Tatooine is far from the Republic and is sparsely populated. The farther away from Palpatine, the less chance that Palpatine would "sense" Luke's presence.

I don't see any problem here. At the end of ROTS, the only people who knew that Luke and Leia were born were Yoda, Obi-Wan and Bail Organa. The rest of the galaxy were made to believe that Padme died before giving birth. So if Palpatine and the rest of the galaxy thought that Padme's child (singular since no one knew she was carrying twins) died with Padme, why would anyone suspect that some farmboy name Luke Skywalker could possibly be the offspring of Anakin?

Stun setting?? The combined energy of the lightning with the energy from the lightsaber? Maybe Palpatine wasn't using all of his powers in an attempt to torture Luke for a while?

In real life, the first of any new technology takes longer to build than subsequent versions. Because there is research and development, and trial and error. There is also the finding of the raw materials and not knowing exactly where to find them on the first round. Btw, who said it took 2 decades to build the first one? Maybe it was built in 3 years. BUT maybe it took 2 decades to create the technology to power the station so that it could move across the galaxy. Perhaps it took that long to create the technology needed to destroy a planet. Once those things were discovered/created, it would be easier to duplicate for the Death Star II. Is there anything in the movies that contradict any of this?

He witnessed Obi-Wan vanish right before his own eyes. You don't think that would peak his curiosity? He then had several years to research it. Qui-Gon was powerful enough to figure it out on his own. Why wouldn't Vader?

DING! WRONG. She just didn't know how to use it is all, and she was also buried underneath a thick veil of Political discipline. Luke was not, that is why he was so easily sensed. The force doesn't "connect" with anyone at a certain time. They have it from birth, they only learn how to use it and control it as they age with training. No offense, but you don't know a single thing aboWwut what your talking about.
Wow no offense but ur a jerk....... Thanks for playing though.

The Jedi Knight (I think) video games were like this...choose the Dark Side of the force by your actions and your character would begin to get evil yellow eyes and an overall darker appearance..

For some reason the Jedi Rocks thing makes me think of this Muppet Show piece:

But I really do like that explanation.
But seriously, at the risk of sounding like an apologist, I still kind of viewed it more as Palps losing control - thus the lightning coming back on him. Or maybe not so much "losing" control as the Dark Side asserting control, and it doesn't really care where it goes.

So yeah, it appears he's getting struck by the lighting and that's what's deforming his face, but I still view it as the Force is deforming him while at the same time the lightning is going everywhere - including back at him.

Two more to go, EII and III and then on to the specials.

PQ wise I think EIV is amazing looking and benefited more than V and VI
As far as E1, I think it had scenes where it looked very sharp and others where it looked washed out. (example, when the droid army is coming down the hill in Naboo - the ground does not look that detailed)

It was '82-'83, not even joking, I bet Lucas was tooting on a lot of nose candy all throughout the late 70's and early 80's due to his newfound success and status. Back then it was just cool and fashionable. Explains a lot of Jedi, really.

Why bother reconciling the principles of the mythology in the OT with that in the PT? It's not the quality of the two are consistent to begin with, the PT is borderline unwatchable and the OT is considered to be classic. There's no reason the mythology has to be any more consistent, really. Just thinking about Hayden's dopey smirking face at the end of Jedi makes me laugh, hahaha. He has the acting chops of a 2X4.

Yeah, if I had any nits to pick about ROTS, that would be one. Anakin should have probably had Sith Eyes from his "knighting" by Darth Sidious and assumption of the Darth Vader identity through the rest of the movie. Especially during his fight with Obi-wan.

Dooku was an oddball. I remember seeing some fan art a few years back that showed him covered with darth maul like tattooing with sleeves andn his chest/back that looked like it might be appropriate. But yeah, he should have had "the eye" too.

I dunno, one thing I did notice in ROTJ was that one of the contacts doesn't appear to be perfectly centered. IIRC, it's most noticieable in the scene where Luke first takes a swing at him and Vader blocks it.

Yeah I think that theory totally works, but like I said the movie makes it look like it's the lightning physically melting his face.

I'm not trying to outright throw it away, I'm just saying it would be an easier sell if they shot it a little differently.

That doesn't make you an apologist at all, anyway, it's a pretty reasonable interpretation. Plenty of examples of serious hardcore "apologism" in this thread, hahaha.
