I am not buying the Saga Blu's. I am sick of Lucas tinkering with 34 yr old movies, they aren't the same movies anymore because of it. Movies that changed my life in 1977 as a child. I've given Lucas enough of my money. He is fat and rich enough. I'll ask for them as a Xmas gift. Ohh, and the 3D garbage will never be part of my collection.

DING! WRONG. She just didn't know how to use it is all, and she was also buried underneath a thick veil of Political discipline. Luke was not, that is why he was so easily sensed. The force doesn't "connect" with anyone at a certain time. They have it from birth, they only learn how to use it and control it as they age with training. No offense, but you don't know a single thing about what your talking about.

This thread has descended into parody.
I thought you DIDN'T want everything spelled out for you in movies, but you seem to have lots of questions and appear to be very reluctant about trying to interpret them by yourself. I suggest you try and learn to read myth...

I've heard that explanation. Which makes little sense. If Palpatine has the power to make himself look like he did before the lightning incident, why not keep using it? Who willingly decides to look like a white prune? And yes, I'm aware he told the Senate that the Jedi attack left him looking that way, but you're telling me that even after he disbands the entire Congress in ANH, he still needs to maintain his cover?

Lol aside, I think that what gets people going too is some people's attitude that GL -meant- all this, all the time, and that there were never any real inconsistencies or retcons.

ever.

I love to see how outlandish and convoluted the justification will be, that's why I pose the questions. Personally as I said, the inconsistencies don't bother me at all. They don't even rate as a minor annoyance. That's why I find it so funny to see the lengths people will go to explain all this shit away, clinging desperately to some "GL is Infallible" life-raft.

It's okay that there are some little mistakes, idiosyncrasies, inconsistencies, it's to be expected and it really doesn't affect my enjoyment because the movies are so damned entertaining... but you won't see me desperately defending them with some outlandish explanation for every tiny thing that doesn't add up.

Just go with it.

You are correct.

The only reason the bounty hunter "Zam" in the Attack of the Clones was revealed to be a changeling was in order to foreshadow Palpatine's revealing of his true identity.

I thought the same. It's been mentioned in reviews and by other people, but most of them seem to think it was done intentionally.

Personally I think they really screwed it up. It's not just that it lacks the LFE of Eps I and II, but the dialogue in the middle of the movie often sounds lispy, like it's missing frequencies and just plain mixed wrong. I honestly think they legitimately messed it up somehow.

It's very detailed, the surround mix is well spaced and generally the relative mix (volume levels between different elements) are right, but the frequency range just sounds totally neutered to me. I wonder if we'll hear more about it.

While people try to explain it away by referencing the harsh sun of Tatooine (lol), it's one of the major inconsistencies that actually catches my attention (along with Padme getting it on with a dude 15 years younger than her). I'm no screenwriter, but I think George could've done wonders by making the characters older by ROTS.
HAHAHA that ones even worse. From watching these films and reading this thread. Lucas doesnt really noticed alot of things, and the things he does notice arnt really a big deal. The light saber in ANH is def white when hes training.

Well a week ago I hadn't seen the Star Wars movies and just yesterday I finished watching the entire saga so I guess you could say I'm new to this. So you're saying that her political discipline acted as some sort of shield that blocked Vader from detecting that she has the force?

It's not just you. The sound is quiet and subdued through much of the film.

Which is a shame, because Revenge of the Sith is the best of the prequels.

No, he doesn't need to maintain his cover. That's the whole point. Palpatine IS the cover. The white prune is his real full-time face., according to my theory anyway.

We don't know much about Palpatine. For all we know, he's some kind of shape-shifter like that bounty hunter chick. Or another type of alien, or ancient demon...who knows? Maybe the battle with Windu drained his powers so that he couldn't keep up the facade anymore. Or maybe he just decided it was time to "come out". Beyond that, I don't know and I don't really care. I just feel that that explanation makes a lot more sense to me than "the lightning did it." Because as it's been pointed out, if that was the case, Luke would look like Pruneface by the end of ROTJ.

I'm as much of an inconsistency nitpicker as the next fanboy, but the funny thing is, I never had a problem with the Palpatine transformation.

For me, I never thought it was the lightning, per se, that transformed him. I viewed it as a battle of wills between him and Mace. It wasn't just lightning against lightsaber, but Windu was also using all of his Force might to try to direct the energy back at Palps.

Meanwhile, Palps is using everything HE'S got to direct it at Mace. Trouble is, Mace is a pretty powerful MoFo and to beat him, Palps has to pretty much sacrifice himself to the corrupting power of the Dark Side. You can't direct that much energy of Dark Side Force without consequences -- in this case, all of that Force energy warps and distorts Palps.

I also had to put the volume higher than the other two to understand...

and what is LFE?

Sir! Put your hands in the air and step away from the internet.

You have the rest of your life to analyze and dissect these films but they're only going to be new once.

Stay the hell away from us and enjoy that for a while.

(and don't worry, we'll be here when you're ready)

I agree with this. That's the way I've always seen it. If the lightning deformed him, how do you explain his reptillian eyes (or whatever you want to call them)? I don't think the lightning did that to him. Palpatine was the mask. Sidious is the true form.

I actually like this.

The way they shoot it, though, it just looks like the lightning is physically burning his face. If they'd maybe shown the transformation happening, then reversing, like he's pruney then smooth, prunier, then smooth, etc., it would have seemed more like a mystical The ForceŽ "thing".

But I really do like that explanation.

I noticed this problem on the DVDs several years ago. The crappy old sound system I had back then would have moments where it was really struggling to keep up with the first two, but on RotS, I could crank the sub, the surrounds, and the overall volume quite a bit, with no problems at all. I was hoping that they would fix this, but they didn't.
