On Sith (also watched with seeming emotional detachment by the audience), people were rolling when Vader cries out "NOOOOOOO!" It was embarrassing really, because it was the kind of laughter that was not about humor, but about release. It was as though we were finally glad the whole thing was over with. Please just let the credits roll and we can all pretend none of this ever happened.
It's sad.

It's like giving a key job to someone who tripped over a power cable.

But making fun of people for what they like isn't the, um, Jedi Way, either.

I guess having had a kid and having been around a lot of kids, I see no evil in somebody coming to ask what I think are deeper questions about life by way of thinking Jar-Jar is funny.
I didn't mind the Shatner anaolgy. That was a f*(kin hilarious bit. I try not to take these things that seriously, and I have a pretty thick skin, so I do apologize if I sometimes forget not everyone does. I like a good debate. Although all the "nope" stuff I just find annoying.

But try as I might not to admit it, I do love those goddamn films. To see films like Apocalypse Now, The Godfather, Ben Hur, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, hell, even Robinson Caruso on Mars get the serious restoration and blu-ray treatment they deserve and to have that NOT happen with SW? Frustrating.

I used to admire Lucas for wrestling control of his fortunes and his films away from the studios. Now I wish 20th Century Fox did own the films. Studios may drop the ball frequently, but they would probably treat these films better than Lucas has been treating them. 2011 and we are still seeing matte boxes? We should all storm the ranch tomorrow.

Thank god for those fans who have the time and the passion to do what Lucas should be doing.

Hey, Val? Is Scott still filming out there? Or are they done with the principle? I've been avoiding the Prometheus thread to keep from getting spoiled.

Oh, and I assume you're gonna go watch The Thing in a few weeks? I know I am. *fingers crossed*

As for the other point. He was a General who was key during the Battle of Naboo. And also, have you seen RL politicians?

He's less of an embarrassment than people who get caught in sex scandals, gay sex scandals, and who can't spell Potato.
Nope.

The truly sad thing is that if Lucas were to come out and say "I need 5 million dollars to put the OT back together and release them" he would probably have it in just under a week. I would have no problem donating 10 bucks to that effort - and that's on top of paying for the eventual release. I would say there would be at least 500,000 people who would do the same.

Nobody has a clue; Ridley seems to have gone underground But I do know that a few screenshots of
[Show spoiler]the Space Jockey chair with a headless Jockey(!)
were shown at the 25 Years of Aliens convention last weekend.

I'm not gonna press that spoiler button. No sir!

I still say it's an Alien prequel, no matter what the propaganda machine says.

As long as Scott doesn't do another Blade Runner :P I can't imagine how another Blade Runner would be a good idea. First one wasn't great as a narrative and overall, doesn't need a sequel or a prequel or a remake or a reboot.

I find it sad that Lucas says it's too expensive to restore the OT, but he's spending millions on converting all 6 films to 3D. Priorities?

I guess where I'm coming from is that 'a vast majority' can often have positions I disagree with. And in this case, it can be very easy to mistake the 'vast majority' for the limited experience of a thread on blu-ray.com or other genre sites that cover sci-fi, fantasy, and horror movies. I get that it's frustrating for someone to talk down to you and tell you why you should like something you don't like, but I guess I find statements that begin with 'All people,' 'most people,' or even 'many people' a little dubious.

Again, it's all relative. We're all human beings here and as such, subject to our biases and limited experience. It's easy to forget that and have knee-jerk reactions to things, but in the words of George Harrison, "The more I learn, the less I know."

If you think about it, converting the 6 films to 3D is relatively inexpensive. He's most obviously going to be working off the same files as he used for the Blu Ray set. Frame by frame restoration of ancient negatives is quite an ordeal.

Plus as has been noted a few thousand times, it has nothing to do with cost. It's simply that those versions don't fit his vision.

And as had been said many thousands of times as well, they are an important part of cinema history, and to not release them as such is a travesty.

I say that Lucas is a part of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor! TAKE HIM AWAY!

At this point I would be ecstatic if he just re-scanned the "special" editions.
